Appearing Creatures: Keeper of the Grove, Lampad, Oracula

July 27th

As the battle with Illidan’s guardians continues, Vel tries to rush after Elissa into the midst of their enemies. They can hear a rumbling, and a rolling fog had started to seep up from below, more treants climbing up from below. Howling winds also start to whip around. Buffeted by the wind, Vel reassesses and casts [Slow], spectral chains wrapping around the two wildkin and the ancient protector.

One of the lampads tries to dispel one of the dryads, but the magic holds, and the lampad scowls. The other lampad also tries the same, and one of the dryads promptly disappears.

Elissa is sparring with one of the slowed wildkins, able to duck around the creature’s claws. The slowed Ancient Protector hurls a rock at Uther, but the attack slams into the ground just to the side.

Califax starts to chant the incantation for wrath of nature, but Vel hears the incantations and slices her hand through air using [Counterspell]

Califax says [sylvan]: What!?

Meanwhile, Seria scurries onto the nearest wildkin and bites down on its hand, sending it tumbling to the ground below.

Remnii casts spirit guardians and starts to move forward. The wind starts to push on Elissa as she moves forward, but she resists the gale. She raises her sword into the air and uses her channel divinity, minty green energy wafting through the air. One of the deep guardian lampads starts to flee.

One of the dryads allied with Tol’vas uses dispel magic in an attempt to dispel the fog of the druid grove, and she spins her spear around her. The fog gathers into a mote around her that is then cast aside--the fog vanishing. She winks back at the group.

Uther charges forward and strikes into the remaining slowed wildkin, smacking unconscious to the ground. However, thorns and brambles had stuck into his armor, slowing him down and pricking his skin.

One of the dryads is pushed off the side of the cliff by the gust of wind, but Tol’vas relinquishes the summon on her before she hits the ground. Her sister, however, fairs better as she digs her hooves into the ground.

One of the lumbering shroomeants slams its fist into the stonework, trying and failing to hit Seria.

Tol’vas drops a [Gravity Sinkhole] on Califax and the unturned lampad, and the gravity tugs at them, but they are able to resist the pull of the spell. The fleeing lampad leaps into one of the mushroom trees and disappears, running away from the combat at hand.

The remaining deep guardian lampad looks at Uther.

Deep Guardian Lampad says [sylvan]: You will know what it means to rot.

She casts [Mark of the Wild] on herself and spins her scythe around and hurls it and her staff at Uther. However, both are deflected aside. Kor’vas carves into one of the newly arrived treants, carving into its bark with a flurry of blows.

Califax charges forward toward Elissa, but she deflects his attacks aside--the [Protection from Evil and Good] aiding her against the large, elk-like man. Some of the stones start to collapse below Seria, but she is able to scuttle out of the way.

Remnii plants the Exodar Lifestaff on the ground, and six golden motes appear above her head, and the naaru sigil appears over her forehead as she casts [Crown of Stars]. She fires one of them at the shroomeat that is harassing Seria. The mote smashes into the treant, staggering it.

Kor’vas manages slams her glaive into the shroomeant, then feints beneath it and runs for the ancient protector. The thorn aura around it stabs into her flesh, but she continues to smash into it. One of the dryads throws her javelin into the severely injured shroomeant that Kor’vas had just left, but it is still hanging on.

Tol’vas moves forward and upcasts a [Banishment] on the remaining lampad and Califax. The lampad resists, but as Califax rears around, Tol’vas slams his staff into the ground, and a thin fissure races towards Califax. It opens up, revealing a green, misty essence that he tumbles into and disappears. He then retreats, seeking out cover.

Seria scuttles forward and bites into the ancient protector.

Uther Menethil says: Elissa, with me!

He runs over to Elissa and quickens thunder step to get to the remaining lampad. He then swings into the lampad with his hammer. She tries to block, but the might of his strikes are too much.

The shroomeant in Remnii’s spirit guardians explodes the shroomeant in its range, and Vel casts [Toll the Dead] on the other remaining shroomeant--the bark flying off as the creature solidifies once more into a solid tree. She then hurries up to the Ancient Protector and slashes into its bark.

Meanwhile, Elissa is helping Uther with the lampad. The lampad blocks the first strike, but Elissa gets through with her second attack.

Deep Guardian Lampad says [sylvan]: Stop that druid!

The Ancient Protector turns towards Tol’vas and hurls a rock. The rock clips his shoulder, and his concentration starts to waver, but just barely holds.

Vel slashes into the protector with [Heart Strike], a magenta slash appearing in its bark before she flips her blade around and attacks it again. Seria follows up with a bite, and the ancient protector starts to freeze up, and falls.

Tol’vas hurls a wrath at the lampad, but it arcs wide. He then ducks behind Seria and casts [Roar].

Remnii runs forward and stabilizes the ancient protector with [Spare the Dying]. She then fires one of the motes at the lampad. Uther brings her down to her knees with a fearsome strike of his hammer, leaving her unconscious on the ground. The skull helmet took the brunt of the damage and went skittering across the ground.

Califax had been successfully banished.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Good job, guys! Lets get Illidan out before reinforcements come.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Medivh, I think you’re up!

Medivh flutters down and transforms back into his humanoid form.

Medivh says: Alright, lets see what we can do.

They cross the bridge and quickly make their way up the passage into the massive, chained, stone pillar. They can see more crystals lighting the way, but as they reach the far end, they see a platform of stone with a large bright crystal. Within it is a humanoid figure. There are chains piercing through the crystal, entombing him in the prison. The figure seems to be moving. Around the platform is incredibly deep water with creatures moving within it.

Uther Menethil says: Well. This is an extreme amount of security.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: He’s very well worth it.
Medivh says: They must really wanted to keep him locked up, didn’t they?
Uther Menethil says: Appears to be the way of it.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: He is known as the Betrayer.

Medivh rolls his shoulders and walks to the head of the group. He clears his throat and plants his staff on the ground, and lets go of the staff. It falls towards Vel, who catches it.

Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Wouldn’t this be easier to do with that?

Tol’vas points to the staff.

Medivh says: No need!

Medivh starts to chant in a combination of languages like Thalassian and Titanic. His eyes go bright blue, his cloak roiling around him, and massive glyphs appear around him.

Medivh says: Ancient magic of yore, I beseech you to release this prisoner on to us!

He thrusts his hand forward, and the glyphs pulse, and connect with the crystals. They glow brightly, and the crystal then cracks, falling apart. The Betrayer is still chained within, but he issues forward as the crystal tumbles away. Then, one by one, the chains recede. He is a night elf with simple cotton trousers and long black hair that drapes over his flesh, which has dormant tattoos similar to those on the Illidari.

The figure catches himself on the ground, and the various crystals in the area extinguish. There is an eternal moment as Illidan Stormrage gets to his feet and steps forward. His face is covered with a simple black blindfold.

He scowls.

Illidan Stormrage says: Well. This is hardly what I would have expected. After all the years I’ve spent in here with no visitation, and my brother is nowhere to be found, yet somehow I find myself not surprised.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Your brother is lost within the Dream.
Illidan Stormrage says: And who are all of you supposed to be? And how did you make it past the Wardens.
Uther Menethil says: I am Uther Menethil of Lordaeron. Which probably didn’t exist when you were locked away. A prince far from the east. We had aggressive negotiations.
Velameestra Windrunner says: We should also likely leave before reinforcements come.
Uther Menethil says: That is a fantastic idea.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Uh, yeah, about those. We should leave. Now. That dryad came back.

Illidan looks up at Kor’vas, and his brow furrows. She looks up at him.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Hi, Illidan Stormrage, a big fan. I promise we’ll answer all your questions once we leave.
Illidan Stormrage says: Why leave so soon! If they prepared a welcoming party, it would be unkind of me to return the favor.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Because the Legion is here, and they don’t have time.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: They’re tricking Tyrande.

Illidan stops at the name, and the motes behind his blindfold look at Tol’vas.

Illidan Stormrage says: You expect me to believe that? Tyrande may be naive, but she’s no fool.
Remnii says: Greetings. Do you think Tyrande would wish to kill the son of the Traveler? Because that’s what she’s trying to do, along with myself.

Illidan listens.

Illidan Stormrage says: Very well, I’ll play along with your game. The last thing I would want is to be locked in this prison again, though I’m sure Maiev would like to see my smiling face. Do you have an escape plan?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes.

Uther sighs in relief upon hearing Vel say yes.

They run out from the immediate prison, and they see a bunch of Watchers with the lampad, and a portal opens to reveal Califax with two other Keepers of the Grove. They start to run forward.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Borne upon the seams of the veil, I grant us passage!

Vel hurls her hand towards the ground, using [Teleport] as the roots start to try and ensnare and entangle them, and the group disappears with a swirl of magical energy.

They reappear in the middle of the yard surrounding Wynn’s hut. There is bright, hot sun beaming down on them, and Scavell--who was sunbathing--jumps up and a bolt of lightning shoots into the distance as he is startled awake.

Medivh immediately races over to Vel.

Medivh says: Excellent work, Velameestra! Well done! Oh, and thank you, for holding that for me.

He takes his staff back, as Vel had still been holding on to it.

Medivh says: Where are we? This looks like somewhere in mid Kalimdor.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Southfury Headlands.
Medivh says: Of course! I passed through this region very briefly. It’s very warm here! But at least it’s safe!

He looks at the cottage. Illidan is looking around, squinting up at the bright sun. He takes a deep breath of the fresh air. Kor’vas is stretching and audibly sighing.

Medivh says: This is strange. It looks like someone lives here. I don’t know who would live somewhere so remote.
Velameestra Windrunner says: A friend of ours. Wynn? Are you there?

The locking mechanisms on the cottage start to undo, and Wynn steps out.

Wynn says: What is all the raucous out there?

She has a tray with some refreshments and a large bowl for Scavell. But then she stops.

Wynn says: Oh. This is rather unexpected. H--

Her eyes fall on Medivh.

Wynn says: Oh shit.

Before the group sees anything else, a blast of arcane energy comes rocketing from behind the party. As they whip around, they see Medivh had fired a bolt of energy at Wynn, who raises her hand--summoning her staff and deflecting the blast aside at the last second.

Medivh steps forward, his eyes burning a bright blue and energy coursing around him. Magic is crackling in the air in his vicinity.

Medivh says: Everyone get back! I was wondering where you crawled back to.

He hurls another bolt of energy, which Wynn also deflects.

Wynn says: Medivh, I can explain--

Another blast, and another one. She deflects both attacks aside, and then Medivh starts to conjure a [Disintegrate] spell. At that point, Vel bursts into action and gets right between the two battling mages--her back to Wynn and her eyes glued to Medivh.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Stop! Right now!

She bares her fangs at the Guardian, whose body seems to be incredibly strained by whatever he was doing.

Medivh says: Velameestra, get out of the way! She is a danger to you and everyone is this world! I’ve been hunting her for a very long time.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And I think we collectively need an explanation before you continue flinging disintegrates!

There’s a bit of a hiss to her voice, and Medivh’s eyes waver for the briefest of seconds, and Wynn blasts the disintegrate from his hand.

Wynn says: That is enough. Please.

She takes a deep breath, and Medivh is now visibly panting, but still on edge.

Medivh says: You had best start talking quickly, Magna Aegwynn.

Wynn taps her staff on the ground.

Wynn says: I would gladly explain everything to you, Medivh. I owe you that much. But please pass your judgement on me after you hear my tale, would you?

Medivh scowls.

Medivh says: I would be surprised if your story could sway me from passing judgement for what you did to them, Aegwynn. The blood of the Tirisgarde is on your hands, and I know it.
Wynn says: I understand, and I’ll accept whatever judgement you deem is proper for me, Guardian. But listen. If I am to be destroyed, there are things you must know, if nothing else. Now come, it’s a long story, and I think we could all use some refreshments.
Illidan Stormrage says: This has been an exciting series of minutes.

Wynn disappears into the house for a brief second to get some tea things for everyone. She gives Vel a nod before she retreats. Medivh steps past Vel and looks down at her with a serious look.

Medivh says: If you don’t mind, Aegwynn, I don’t think it would be wise for anyone to keep their eyes off you right now. Do you mind assistance?
Wynn says: If you wish, yes. I’m not going to try anything.

He follows after her.

Illidan Stormrage says: Well. You certainly know how to keep things interesting. Already, I’m getting a bit of a show.
Velameestra Windrunner says: It’s not going to stop anytime soon.

Remnii turns to Kor’vas and Illidan and bows her head.

Remnii says: Thank you for your assistance. I have met some of your Illidari. I most thankful for your assistance. I was supposed to meet with the Slayer beforehand, but…

Kor’vas smiles.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Don’t mention it. I’m just glad to be out of that cell. Once we take care of this business, I’d like to introduce you. I have to bring this big guy back to her as well.
Illidan Stormrage says: And just who exactly are you? And who are these Illidari?

Remnii’s eyes narrow slightly, looking between Kor’vas and Illidan.

Remnii says: I’m sorry. I simply… correlated perhaps without causation.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Oh no. I’m pretty sure the Slayer got the name from the big guy here.

She pats his shoulder, and Illidan looks down at the hand.

Illidan Stormrage says: So there’s a group of you, all running around dressing up like me, and fighting demons.

Kor’vas cocks her head.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Yeah that just about gets it. Looks like you were more inspiring than you thought you were, old man.

Illidan starts to laugh.

Illidan Stormrage says: That’s the stupidest thing I’ve heard in my entire life.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Oh, we agree on something?
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: You set a good example.
Illidan Stormrage says: And who is this Slayer?
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: That’s not for me to say, big guy. You need to agree to meet her in person. Once we’re finished with all this.
Illidan Stormrage says: I’m not giving you any promises, girl, though you’ve piqued my curiosity.

He looks to the rest of the group.

Illidan Stormrage says: I’ve got a feeling there’s going to be a lot of explanations before the end of the day. I wouldn’t want to detract your attention from the show these human mages are putting on, though I have more than a couple questions after this.
Velameestra Windrunner says: We will explain once everyone is in the same space. We need Medivh to hear some things too.
Illidan Stormrage says: He’s the angry one?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes, he’s the angry one.

They wait a few moments, and Aegwynn returns with tea, and Medivh follows her, still scowling. The suit of armor, Moroes II, also comes out with some tea things.

Wynn says: You do realize I couldn’t do incantations with this tray, yes?
Medivh says: I’m not going to underestimate you. Try as you might.
Wynn says: Please, make yourselves comfortable.

Wynn sighs.

Wynn says: Where do I begin.
Medivh says: The beginning would be a good place to start.
Wynn says: Very well. Once, a very long time ago, there was a man and a woman who decided they wanted to undress each other. Nine months later--
Medivh says: You know what I mean, Magna.
Wynn says: That isn’t my title anymore, Medivh. You, more than anyone, know how little I deserve it.

Her eyes glance back to Vel, Medivh, and Uther specifically.

Wynn says: Have you ever read Aegwynn and the Dragon Hunter?

Vel had read it. It’s a history, though it’s likely an embellished history. Uther remembered seeing a copy in his mother’s library. It is a telling of the story of the Guardian Aegwynn, and explains how she became the first and only Guardian of Tirisfal. It also mentions her banishings of some demons, the fact she was a maverick and that she was not the most popular among some, but one of the stories is the most famous: the dragon hunt. It is in reference to one of her greatest exploits, the banishment of a great demon she had combated in Northrend alongside a flight of blue dragons. She faced this great demon in single combat, and eventually destroyed it--sealing its spirit away in its own corpse, that she buried at the bottom of the sea.

Wynn says: For the rest of you, it’s a trite story about the first female Guardian, and the one prior to Medivh--the son of Magna Aegwynn. There is more to that story. More to the tale that the histories will not tell you. Mostly because I did not allow it to be told. Aegwynn was a fool to think she could slay such a demon, because it could not be slain. I thought I could seal him away, but I did not know what I was dealing with. Now, the next history lesson.

She looks at Vel.

Wynn says: What do you know of Magus Medivh’s early history?

Vel knows the story again. He was born to Aegwynn and the court conjurer, and upon his 16th birthday, when the power of the Guardian was awakened, a blast of energy nearly leveled the tower, and he went into a coma. Eventually he awoke, and was able to take over the role of the Guardian. That was several decades ago.

Wynn says: There was more to the story than the power of the Guardian overwhelming him. The demon I had bested hundreds of years ago… it had sequestered a part of its essence into my body. Slowly growing and festering. When I transferred the power to Medivh to awaken upon his maturity, that was the demon rearing its head.

Medivh furrows his brow.

Medivh says: A convenient story, Aegwynn. I’m not possessed by a demon. I think I would have noticed, were that the case.

Wynn sighs.

Wynn says: No. You’re not. But you were. For a time. While you were indisposed in your coma, I had tried to see what I could do from beyond the shadows. And I was approached by a man. A dragon, to be specific. I believe him to be a bronze dragon. He never gave me his name. He’s the one who told me. Informed me of my hubris, my foolishness, and of the evil I had unwittingly planted in your soul that was slowly digging its claws into you. So. While you were resting, I stole into the infirmary, and I took the power of the Guardian back, along with the spirit of the demon. Thinking I could control it. I was a fool. I thought that I was… able to suppress it. The dark urges that it levied against my psyche, trying to overwhelm me, trying to make me fall into my deepest, dark desires. But knowing its presence didn’t help me, and banishing it was out of the question. It had far too long to dig its talons into my soul. I began to lose myself. I did terrible things. Unspeakable things. No knowledge of me having done it in the past. When you confronted me… when you discovered my involvement, I was in the throws of being lost to this demon’s influence, so I understand your hatred for the lives I’ve taken.

She looks to the rest of the group.

Wynn says: The Council of Tirisfal and the Tirisgarde are gone because of me. Each and every last one of them was dealt with, as I lost myself. During that moment… I discovered what they were doing. I had memories. I was seeking to bring the Legion here. To this world. I didn’t know how she was doing it, but she was reaching beyond the veil, beyond the furthest reaches of the Nether, beckoning something… and so… in the last moments, I--she--created me.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Simulacrum.

Wynn’s silence confirms the statement.

Wynn says: Once I was completed, I took everything that I could. She ordered me to run. To free myself from her control, so that I might stop her. So using what magic I could, I broke free from her influence and control. Though those powerful magics are well beyond my reach now… I gained my freedom. And did what I could to stop her. I found the portal she had created to usher the demons beyond the veil, to bring them to Azeroth. I believe that she may have been seeking to do this through the same way she manipulated your people, Velameestra, and the orcs. Luckily, I had wrested Aluneth from her control--or she allowed me to, or I could have never confronted her in the Black Morass. I was able to just barely best her. And I imprisoned her in the scepter with which she sought to tear open the veil. Plucked from the hands of the demon who she had banished so long ago. I buried them in the bottom of the sea, alongside the corpse of the Titan himself.

Wynn sips her tea. Medivh’s brow is furrowed, his hand on his chin as he listens.

Wynn says: I could not slay her, of course. Doing so was… well outside my own strength. I imprisoned her. Almost 40 years ago now she’s been there. And… I fear for this Disturbance you mentioned. Judging from what you told me… it seems to be located right around the place of the sunken temple within which I imprisoned her. So I suppose you have me to blame for that. Yet another sin to stack on that pyre. So, knowing that, you may exact what punishment you believe is fitting for me, Medivh, but know this. The name of the demon she slew all those years ago was Sargeras, none other than the Dark Titan itself. This isn’t just any demon, and she must remain in prison at all costs.

Remnii coughs.

Wynn says: I believe that is… the long and the short of it. Before you cut me down, I know that it means little as I am not your mother, nor have I ever been, but I’m sorry, Medivh. I’m sorry that she put you through that. I’m sorry that I put you through that.

She looks to the rest of the group.

Wynn says: If any of you have any questions, I will gladly answer them before my punishment is enacted.
Velameestra Windrunner says: The Council of Tirisfal is not fully dead, as an addendum to that explanation.

Both Wynn and Medivh promptly look at Vel.

Velameestra Windrunner says: We’ve interfaced with a Meryl Winterstorm, if that name is familiar.

Wynn offers a small grin.

Wynn says: I’m glad that old coot had managed to evade her detection for so long.

Medivh nods.

Medivh says: I’m not even sure that you, that Aegwynn, could have stopped him. Not without damaging her own strength. I suppose for that, we can be grateful. I wager he will be a bit cross with me as well, when we return.
Velameestra Windrunner says: He was looking for you.
Medivh says: I’m not surprised. I’ll have to apologize to the old man.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And perhaps this is not my place, but, Wynn is functionally a different person for as much as she is the same, and Wynn, your knowledge of Aegwynn may very well be invaluable. Especially if she’s still a concern.

Wynn closes her eyes and takes another sip of tea. Medivh’s fingers dig into his leg.

Medivh says: Miss Windrunner is right, Wynn. Aegwynn is responsible for a great deal of crimes, not only against humanity, but against all of Azeroth. But you… you didn’t do any of those crimes. In fact, I believe you might be the only reason we had not been embodied with a war against these… orcs, you spoke of, for the last 40 years. I’m… sorry I tried to kill you. But you’re not going to get off that easy. Your knowledge is going to be very helpful. And if this disturbance’s growth is an increasing problem… could in any way mean it’s because Aegwynn is threatening to escape her fetters, then we will have to do something about that. Once we finish handling things here, of course. After all, if what you say is true, then I don’t actually have all the powers of the Guardian… Aegwynn has those, and considering she’s not going to be helping, that falls to you.

He smiles and offers a hand to Wynn.

Medivh says: What do you say, Wynn?

She looks at his hand.

Wynn says: I… don’t know how much help I can be. I used a lot of my strength.

Medivh shakes his head.

Medivh says: I don’t care. You’re going to help me, Wynn. We’re going to make it all right, whether you like it, whether I like it, or whether either of us do. We don’t get that choice.

Wynn gives a solemn look.

Wynn says: Very well. I suppose you have my assistance. For what it means.

Medivh stands up, and Wynn stands up defensively, but he puts his arms around her.

Medivh says: I have never had an opportunity to stand face to face with my mother without her trying to kill me, so you’ll forgive me this indulgence.

Wynn freezes, her eyes wide, and her eyes glass up just a bit. But she closes them before she cries, and she gives him a hug back. Vel also closes her eyes and looks away, the sight stirring some of her own emotions.

The pair parts.

Medivh says: So, there’s been a Legion invasion. There are orcs. I believe we have a lot of catching up to do… if you wouldn’t mind sharing.

Illidan had been very interested the entire time. Remnii stands up, looking very solemn.

Remnii says: I’m going to take a walk for a moment. If you need help, as I have seen the portal from the other side… I would like to get a moment of air.

Wynn closes her eyes, the weight falling back on her shoulders. Remnii removes herself from the summary.

Velameestra Windrunner says: It opened in the Sunwell…

She then launches into the explanation of the opening of the Dark Portal and the present world state, at least last she had heard of it. However, Illidan speaks up.

Illidan Stormrage says: And… what exactly is the Sunwell?
Velameestra Windrunner says: A font of power the… highborne used following their exile.
Illidan Stormrage says: The highborne look more like… you, now? Smaller.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes… we’ve, ah, also started to transition in our collective name. Sin’dorei instead of quel’dorei in the wake of what happened.

Illidan nods.

Illidan Stormrage says: Children of the blood. A fitting tribute. Do you know how they created the Sunwell?
Velameestra Windrunner says: A lot of our older history has since been… erased. But from what mentions I have found, it was formed from the power of the original Well of Eternity. Which…

Vel glances at Tol’vas.

Velameestra Windrunner says: You didn’t inform me they made another one.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: I didn’t make another one.
Illidan Stormrage says: No. They didn’t. That was my doing.

Tol’vas’s gaze shoots over to Illidan.

Tol'vas Moonshadow says: You did it?
Illidan Stormrage says: Yes, I did it.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Well, that explains all the chains and the crystals…
Illidan Stormrage says: And I would do it again. My people were blind to think we could defend this world without the strength of the well.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: The well was the reason they came through in the first place.
Illidan Stormrage says: No. Greed was.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: So giving them something to greed over.
Illidan Stormrage says: People will always find something to covet, boy. But you have the hallmarks of my brother’s teachings. That’s plain. You sound just like him. So after all these years, the night elves still prosper and benefit--
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: We’re chained to it.
Illidan Stormrage says: They could have just as easily destroyed it if they were so afraid. And it sounds like your leader--

He looks at Vel.

Illidan Stormrage says: May have gotten in on the action as well.
Velameestra Windrunner says: A leader several generations past, anyway.
Illidan Stormrage says: Who was it?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Dath’remar Sunstrider.

Illidan chuffs.

Illidan Stormrage says: He would have certainly been in my top five if I were to guess. Charismatic, that one was. And far too clever by half. Nonetheless, the orcs that came through. These are Broxigar’s people.
Velameestra Windrunner says: So it would seem.
Illidan Stormrage says: So the Legion themselves are not here in force. That’s good. That means there’s still time.

Remnii does come back from her walk.

Remnii says: There were a number of demons here from the Archival Authority of Argus. Those under the Defiler’s purview.
Illidan Stormrage says: I’m not surprised. He always struck me as a sore loser.

Illidan grins.

Remnii says: The demons now are taught Darnassian. That’s how deeply this world affected them.
Illidan Stormrage says: So they’re afraid of Azeroth.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: Apparently we’re the only ones who won.

Illidan smirks.

Illidan Stormrage says: I’ve seen Broxigar fight. I can tell he was likely amongst the best of their people. They’ll will be dangerous weapons under the Legion’s control, but not impossible to deal with.
Remnii says: While united under the Warchief Blackhand… they are not entirely without conflict amongst themselves.

Illidan looks at Uther.

Illidan Stormrage says: And you, human. Uther, you said your name was.
Uther Menethil says: Yes.
Illidan Stormrage says: Jaina’s child. You have her eyes.
Uther Menethil says: I've been told this.
Illidan Stormrage says: Though I no longer have mine, I can sense the power that radiates from yours. Convenient that I was in prison until her blood is back upon the lands again. After all the other things that have changed.
Uther Menethil says: With all the coincidences that have happened, I’m starting to lean more on providence.
Illidan Stormrage says: Providence will get you nowhere. It’s your decisions that write your future.
Uther Menethil says: My decision is to crush the Legion.
Illidan Stormrage says: Good. So you mentioned something else was occurring…

The group then informs him of the situation with Tyrande and the night elves and the draenei.

Illidan Stormrage says: So your people are the ones who got away?
Remnii says: Yes.
Illidan Stormrage says: I see.

Illidan shrugs.

Illidan Stormrage says: I suppose that’s good enough.
Remnii says: If you want someone who knows the inner workings of the great Deceiver and the Defiler, that would be my father.
Illidan Stormrage says: Good to know as well. But if I’m going to do anything to help Tyrande, I suppose I’m going to have to start getting to work. I owe you one for springing me and for informing me of what’s going on in my absence.

He turns and starts to walk away.

Velameestra Windrunner says: It might be wise for us to stick together on this. We have other allies in place, and the ability to be a united force.

Illidan half-glances back.

Illidan Stormrage says: I work better alone.
Tol'vas Moonshadow says: You don’t even know where you are.
Illidan Stormrage says: I think I can figure that out.

Vel: I will say, on a baseline level, it will be a lot faster if we also go in a group. I’m not sure what magics you’re capable of, but we do have people with a variety of means to near instantaneously get across the continent.

Illidan Stormrage says: If you’re speaking of the magics you used to get us here, it’s been a few years, but yes, I’m more than capable of getting around in my own way.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Hmph. There’s also a few steps that I’ve isolated that may be more effective than two separate forces potentially getting in each other’s way. Which, Remnii, I imagine you’re going to be contacting Jarod?
Remnii says: Tonight I hopefully will be able to reach him and also my vakas in turn.
Velameestra Windrunner says: We can at least get a read on what exactly happened, and from there, Seria, if you could scry on Jarod and get his location, we may be able to reconvene with him--teleport if needed, though transport via plants or grave stride would be preferable. If he’s still near the battle site, we may be able to use a grave to get there and investigate what precisely happened. From there, we can then rejoin with the rest of our party and also the draenei and make our plan of attack from there.
Illidan Stormrage says: Well. You seem to have it all figured out. Velameestra, was it?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Correct.
Illidan Stormrage says: Well you certainly don’t need my help, then.
Velameestra Windrunner says: No, perhaps not, but we are going right for the potential den of demons, and you struck me as someone that wanted to be at the heart of that action.

Illidan seems to consider for a moment.

Uther Menethil says: Furthermore, my people are fighting them now. I know that you possess power that the majority of my people don’t. But wisdom imparted to me by my forbearers is that knowledge is often a far more effective weapon against them. I’m not expecting you to be able to turn farmers and bakers into demon hunters… but every piece of information you can share increases the odds of our victory.
Illidan Stormrage says: You… you’re all very good at presenting a compelling argument, aren’t you.

He glances at Uther.

Illidan Stormrage says: And you… well. That sounded like something your mother would say. Fine. I’ll travel with you for now. If for no other reason that your information might get us to the end of this faster.

Uther grins.

Illidan Stormrage says: But let me make something clear to you.

He looks at Tol’vas.

Illidan Stormrage says: I’m not doing this because I owe our people anything. I’m doing this because I have a score to settle. And if Tyrande is in danger… I’m not going to let the Legion manipulate her.
Uther Menethil says: Well. Very glad to have you aboard. Lets go save the world.
Illidan Stormrage says: One step at a time, Uther. But yes. That is the goal.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Which, Wynn, if you don’t mind us staying here for the night.
Wynn says: Far be it me to deny you. I don’t have many blankets or pillows here, but…

Illidan nods.

Illidan Stormrage says: I should be able to assist on the morrow once I get the leylines flowing back through my blood, I should be able to traverse them at least once as well, which perchance can help us get to where we need to go faster.
Velameestra Windrunner says: It seems now is the time to coordinate, then.
Illidan Stormrage says: So it seems. And perhaps stretch my muscles a bit. It’s been a very long time. 10,000 years…
Velameestra Windrunner says: It can give you quite a crick in the neck, so I’ve heard.

Illidan glances at Tol’vas, and then at Kor’vas.

Illidan Stormrage says: You. Illidari girl. With me. I want to see whatever the hell this Slayer has taught you.

Kor’vas perks up immediately.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Alright!

She looks at Uther.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: By the way, keep that idea on the table.
Uther Menethil says: Idea?
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Yeah, turning peasants and farmers into demon hunters? It’s an idea. I’m sure you’ll get the chance to meet her some day. But until then…

She looks at Illidan.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Lets see what you’re made of.

Illidan holds his hands out to the side and two iridescent green warglaives appear in his hands.

Illidan Stormrage says: Oh, it’s been too long.

He flips them around, and Kor’vas is practically bouncing as she leaps into spar with Illidan. Some people take to watching them, and Illidan seems to warm up to things slightly. Medivh and Wynn had a small conversation. Wynn also thanked Vel.

Wynn says: You didn’t need to stick up for me like that.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Jumping to conclusions has never ended well.

As the immediate conversations die down, Vel opts to take care of any sendings that need done--including to her aunt Alleria.

Velameestra Windrunner says [sending]: I’m sorry for the lack of updates. Some things came up, but we are alright now. I hope you weren’t too worried.

Alleria responds almost a little too fast.

Alleria Windrunner says [sending]: Vel! You’re alright. I was concerned. I’m glad everything’s alright. A lot’s happened.

Vel hesitates for a moment, as the ending statement had caused something of a pit in her stomach.

Velameestra Windrunner says [sending]: Would it be better if I dreamed you tonight? If you’re able to sleep.
Alleria Windrunner says [sending]: That might be easier, yeah.

Vel makes a note to do so before then reaching out to Tae’shara’s sending stone.

Velameestra Windrunner says [sending]: Minimal resources, but did you all get out? Where are you headed?
Tae'shara Sunwatcher says [sending]: Oh! Vel! It’s good to hear your voice! Everythin’s fine! We managed to get out, and now we’re on a bit of a run. I’m glad you guys got out too.

She then uses her own sending back to Vel.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says [sending]: These night elves know how to handle themselves in a scrap though. Samaara is heading us toward the rest of the draenei.
Velameestra Windrunner says [sending]: Seria is going to likely try to contact Riff. We’re going to try and coordinate with Jarod and will be rejoining you soon.

As if on cue, Seria is getting her scrying bowl out as if she’s going to try and scry her son.

Tae'shara Sunwatcher says [sending]: Glad to hear it. That priestess told us what happened. There’s definitely something fishy goin’ on. Tell Remnii we got that Nobundo fella and a couple others too!

Vel looks at Remnii.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Remnii, Tae’shara wants me to inform you they got Nobundo out as well as the others.

Remnii offers a gentle smile, still holding tight to the Exodar Lifestaff.

Remnii says: I’m glad he’s well. Out of everyone that I would worry about underground… Nobundo will know how to handle himself and also how to handle some of the others.
Tae'shara Sunwatcher says [sending]: You can let everyone else know that everyone else is with us. Makasa, Aramar, Riff, Arthas, we all got out together.
Velameestra Windrunner says [sending]: Thank you, we’ll be seeing you soon.

Vel looks over at Seria.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Riff is with them. They got out alright. I told Tae’shara to inform him you will likely be trying to contact him.

Her eyes flicker to the scrying bowl, recalling Riff’s natural protection against scrying.

Velameestra Windrunner says: It may be best if you just dream him later, I don’t think scrying is going to work...

Seria still insists on trying to scry Riff, and the water glows cloudy, but suddenly she starts to hear a sound. It’s like some sort of hissing. And she can see a figure start to appear in the bowl. It looks feminine, and there is black hair and pointed ears. She doesn’t see Riff anywhere. It’s just blackness, with the figure standing there.

More whispers sound, and suddenly the image starts to move erratically and uncomfortably. Seria blinks, and the woman’s eyes are suddenly right in the bowl, blank eyes bleeding ichor. As Seria meets her eyes, her own eyes start to sting, and there is an agonizing pain in the back of her head. She staggers back.

Remnii says: Seria?

There is another sound, like vibrating metal. Vel glimpsed the face in the bowl, and heard the language--one she didn’t understand. Remnii, however, understood it because of [Tongues].

“You should know better.”

The entire group winces, as if being pulled towards something. However, when they open their eyes, Seria is gone. Seria’s eyes hurt again, and when she opens them again, she is in a pitch-black room. There are mirrors covered with rough hewn, dark grey, stained sheets. She is not alone. There is a presence speaking the words she doesn’t understand, and laughing.

Outside, Remnii looks at Vel.

Remnii says: Did you hear that too?
Velameestra Windrunner says: I heard it, and I saw it, but I didn’t understand it.
Remnii says: It said ‘you should know better’.

Vel looks into the bowl, and she can see the outline of a figure. It’s Seria. Then there is the same voice.

“Your friend should have known better than to peer beyond the veil. Why don’t you come join her?

Remnii translates.

Uther Menethil says: Give her back and I won’t have to.

Vel hears Kel’Thuzad in her mind.

Kel'Thuzad says [telepathically]: Velameestra, I think that’s the language of the dead. I have not been able to master it, but it sounds similar.

Vel and Kel’Thuzad brainstorm for a mile a minute, and they realize the name of the creature. A creature that lives within the realm of the Shadowlands. One of death and ill omen. Entities that live in mirrors. It’s an oracula.

Velameestra Windrunner says: It’s an oracula. A denizen of the Shadowlands.
Remnii says: Would I be of any use in this case?

Seria starts to feel claustrophobic, and Remnii hears more words.

Oracula says [quietish]: Shall I make you watch as I take her anima for myself?

Vel sticks her hand into the bowl. She touches the bottom.

Oracula says [quietish]: Ahhh. You want her back, do you? How about a trade? Why don’t you take her place?

Remnii is still translating.

Uther Menethil says: Done!
Velameestra Windrunner says: Uther, don’t be rash here.
Medivh says: I have passing knowledge of this… but don’t make deals with these creatures.
Uther Menethil says: I can’t smite that thing from this side of the bowl!
Oracula says [quietish]: You are mighty. But are you so mighty alone?
Uther Menethil says: I’m never alone.
Oracula says [quietish]: Give me your power.
Uther Menethil says: Come and take it.

The woman appears before the mirror, and she reaches a hand out--physically stretching from the water.

Kel'Thuzad says [telepathically]: This is not like the other. She doesn’t seek his blood, Vel. She seeks something more substantial. If he takes her hand, he may lose more than he’s expecting.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Uther, don’t make rash deals!

Uther’s fist clenches.

Uther Menethil says: I’m all ears, Vel.

Seria runs from the rear of the oracula, and casts [Moonfire]. The creature screeches as the spell ignites her.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Run for the opening!

Seria runs for the opening and shoves the oracula side. She reaches through the mirror, and it’s horrendously painful as she spills out from the bowl.

Elissa Cross says: What is that thing?!
Uther Menethil says: It’s about to die its final death.

The oracula screeches.

Oracula says [quietish]: No. I need it. I need it! Give it to me!

Vel feels her heart stop for a second, and Seria kicks the bowl, breaking the connection. A thought comes to Vel’s mind.

Velameestra Windrunner says: We… need to not scry on Zalazane anymore. He is apparently not on this realm.
Medivh says: Well, you weren’t trying to scry on that individual just now, were you? It might be a bit too late. Seems to me like that monster has caught your scent.
Velameestra Windrunner says: We will need to resolve that quickly. For the time being, Seria, do not go near anything reflective.

Seria nods.

Kel'Thuzad says [telepathically]: There may be another way around this particular predicament. The creature did seem… desperate, in a sense. If there’s something we could do to use that against it. Manipulate it… perhaps we could bend it to our own designs. Or you could simply slay it, though I wager you would have to do that on it’s own home turf.
Velameestra Windrunner says: There’s a… few other things that need to be considered on top of everything else going on.

Vel opts to respond vocally, the statement serving as much as an answer to Kel’Thuzad as a comment to everyone else.

Velameestra Windrunner says: But right now, I think we are collectively spent.

She glances at Seria.

Velameestra Windrunner says: It may be wise for you to dream Rokhan and see if perhaps he can advise. Or that contact Zen’tabra gave you. Gadrin, I believe was his name? Either or. Then we’ll figure out what we’re doing from here.

Vel seems to be clearly stressed, more than she already was. Seria had started to creep back to her scrying bowl and started to do some cleansing rituals over it to try and get the bad mojo out. However, now that things were starting to calm down, Vel looks at Uther as she passes.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I need you to not do that.
Uther Menethil says: I don’t suppose you’ll elaborate?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Recklessly make deals when you don’t know what you’re handing away. You would have been dead, Uther.
Uther Menethil says: And how is it that you know this?
Velameestra Windrunner says: Because what that creature was asking you to give away was not just your blood.
Uther Menethil says: Vel, I’m not losing anyone else.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And neither am I.

Vel’s voice cracks audibly, her words pained, but after a moment of silence between the pair of them, she turns away to start working through her notes and other pursuits. Uther doesn’t follow her.

A tension hangs over the camp, and Remnii starts to try and send Jarod.

Remnii says [sending]: Jarod, are you awake? If so, I’ll be dreaming you tonight. Please be careful, please be safe, and I am so sorry.
Jarod Shadowsong says [sending]: Ergh. I am now. It’s good to hear your voice, Remnii. I’m in one piece. Thanks to your old man. See you in my dreams.

He is clearly wounded, and barely conscious. Remnii sits back for a second, and then makes her way over to Vel.

Remnii says: In some good news… we will not have to find Jarod or the draenei separately.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Good. I suppose we just need to reconvene with our fellows, then.
Remnii says: Indeed.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Thank you for the update, Remnii.

Remnii bows her head, and leaves Vel to her illusions. She then goes to find Kor’vas.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Hey. I know some shit went down, but I feel like I never got the chance to thank you and everyone for busting me out of there. So thanks. I appreciate it.
Remnii says: I am only glad to pay it forward.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: I know you didn’t ask me, but I plan to sticker with you guys. I have to get him back to the Slayer, and I think he needs to see his crush again.

A rock hits Kor’vas in the back of the head.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Ow!
Illidan Stormrage says: I’m blind, not deaf.
Remnii says: Oh. Are you okay?
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Yeah. I probably should have caught that. But you said pay it forward, and you said you met one of the Illidari once. Who was it?
Remnii says: It was a unique set of circumstances. I learned about your organization through a demon. A slayer named Nyxxa.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Nyxxa’s alright then?!

Remnii nods.

Remnii says: Walk with me.

They start to stroll.

Remnii says: We are presumed dead on the other side of the world right now. She would likely be assuming the same. But last I saw her, Nyxxa was alright.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Glad to hear it! We kind of go way back, she and I. We uh… we sort of trained together. So I’m really glad she’s okay. We both got sent off at the same time. We didn’t get to talk about what we were doing.
Remnii says: In the short time I knew her, she died once.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Sounds about right.
Remnii says: Her reformation went well. But the only reason I’m here with the others is partially because of her. I was on the other side of the portal, and Nyxxa took me all the way to the Lordaeran dungeons.

Kor’vas looks Remnii up and down, and she snickers.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Oh yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Remnii’s eyebrows raise.

Remnii says: I would hope it’s a good thing.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: It is. She… she’s got a bit of a magnetic personality for good people. Especially people like you. I mean that in the best way possible, I promise.

Remnii shakes her head and smiles.

Remnii says: I have a pair of her glaives. Before we part ways, I would very much like to give them to you. They aren’t much good in my hands.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Yeah! Sure!

She pulls her glaives out.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: These were made by her as well. A present before our assignments. See. That’s her mark.

She points to a symbol.

Remnii says: It lines up. The ones she left behind have the same sigil.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Um. She said she died again. Have you talked to her again? Has she remembered anything else about her life?
Remnii says: Not much. She seemed happy to be able to remember not only myself and the rest of the party with which we had traveled. She didn’t seem to lose anymore… but I also did not get to spend too much time with her. I’m sorry I can’t give you more information.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: it’s fine! There aren’t may of us. But maybe the Slayer has heard something, and once we wrap up here, maybe I can see if I can track her down next.
Remnii says: I would like to be honest that Nyxxa also does not remember much of the Illidari. The Slayer contacting her was news to her.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Well… it wouldn’t be the first time. She’s always had pretty spotty memory. But… she always ends up being pretty good at catching up, all the same. Thank you for telling me. I’m really glad to hear it. Look. I know this is a lot, and I know there’s a whole bunch of trauma with your people, but you got me on your side, especially if Nyxxa likes you.

Remnii nods with a small smile.

Remnii says: She swore fealty to me.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Yup. Sounds about right.
Remnii says: I was curious if that was in character for her.

Kor’vas purses her lips, and then shakes her head.

Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: You… you’re exactly her type. It makes perfect sense. I’d say go look in the mirror, but I think we’re trying to avoid that right now. You’re very pretty Remnii, and I’m sure she’s noticed.

There’s a faint blush on her face.

Remnii says: Thank you.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Oh goodness, you blush easy too? Yeah, no wonder.
Remnii says: It’s good to meet you officially, Kor’vas.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: You too!
Remnii says: It’ll be good to work with you and the Illidari in the future.
Kor'vas Bloodthorn says: Yeah!

That evening, as the sun starts to go down, as the group starts to get ready to sleep in whatever ways they need, Remnii’s sending stone starts to quaver. It’s Samaara.

Samaara says [sending]: Remnii, we have a problem. The Wardens’ pursuit has been more dogged than expected. Myself and the others have split up. Nobundo and the others are with me, I’m getting them back first. Help them.

Remnii’s hand clutches around the staff at her side.

Remnii says [sending]: Thank you for the update, Samaara. I will inform the others, and we will go from there. I’ll message you back.

She reconvenes with the group.

Remnii says: I have an update from Samaara, and it’s not looking good

Vel tilts her head to inform that she’s listening, and Remnii gives the news.

Velameestra Windrunner says: Well. We have the next step on the morrow, then.
Remnii says: I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Velameestra Windrunner says: It’s not your fault, Remnii.
Remnii says: Pending it’s alright with you, I am going to check with Samaara to make sure they’ll be okay overnight.
Velameestra Windrunner says: By all means.
Remnii says [sending]: Samaara, we are spent from our own jailbreak. Will they last the night?
Samaara says [sending]: Hard to say. Do not put yourselves in danger, but they will need help. The Watchers are persistent. Be safe. Don’t take risks. That is my advice.

Remnii gives the update.

Velameestra Windrunner says: We should rest early so that we can leave early tomorrow morning.

As the cottage and surrounding environment falls into silence, Vel reaches out to Alleria via [Dream], who materializes within the dreamscape with hardly any waiting. As Alleria’s eyes fall on Vel, her shoulders loosen from the tension, and she moves with a quickened pace towards her niece where she promptly wraps her into a hug.

Alleria Windrunner says: You know… when you say you’re about to meet with the night elves and then disappear for two and a half weeks… what happened?
Velameestra Windrunner says: We were diplomatically incarcerated as a… somewhat forced show of good faith.
Alleria Windrunner says: I see.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And then had to break out. The envoy that was sent to engage in peace talks with the draenei was slaughtered, thus Remnii and Uther were seen as guilty and were going to be executed.

Alleria’s eyes widen.

Alleria Windrunner says: I see. So it was one of those kinds of jail stays. Well I’m glad that you’re alright. I was starting to get worried. Only *starting* to get worried.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Only starting.
Alleria Windrunner says: You’re tough, Vel, I figured there was a good explanation, but the last time you didn’t check in after so long… well, it was for a much worse reason.
Velameestra Windrunner says: It.. wasn’t five months this time. But we did successfully retrieve Medivh.
Alleria Windrunner says: Did you? That’s good. I hope he’ll be able to help with all of this. Um… I’m still out ranging. I don’t know everything that’s happened, but I know there are some things that are occurring. Some word. I don’t know all the details and I don’t think they do back at the Landing either, but there are some things someone else might be able to fill you in more on.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I can always reconvene with Astalor.
Alleria Windrunner says: He’d probably know more. But I do know a couple of things. First off, I think we found the place you were talking about. We’ve been able to scout out a good portion of the Grizzly Hills and the Howling Fjord. I don’t know everything, but I do know the king has met with one of the leaders of the vrykul. Their king, Ymiron. I wasn’t there, but I know he and Lana’thel were, and I know it didn’t go great. One of the things the dark rangers have been doing is helping to reawaken them from the ritual that placed them into hibernation. It’s a ritual of old magic. Blood magic. I don’t understand much of it, but it took a great deal to wake up their king, and he’s not enthused about working with us. Not yet, anyway. That’s all I know about that. But the place you referred to, the Dragonblight, I think we found it.
Velameestra Windrunner says: And what are the plans for it?
Alleria Windrunner says: Right now, nothing. We just got here, and so far, a couple days in, we haven’t found much of anything. It’s just open tundra. But if we find anything, you’ll be the first to know. Well, maybe not the first, but you’ll be the first I tell.

Vel chuffs.

Velameestra Windrunner says: I appreciate it… ideally that’s a place we should not be touching in any intrusive sense.

Alleria nods.

Alleria Windrunner says: We’ve been trying to avoid kicking up dust. But only so much can be avoided, especially when it comes to the trolls. But I’ll do what I can to try and deter people from exploring further, but the leadership wants to press on. I know that Lana’thel herself had left on an expedition of her own. I offered to go with her, but the first vrykul woman they encountered is their guide instead. I don’t trust her, but it’s not my call. They call her Syreian. I don’t know much about her, but I don’t think she likes me very much. Then again, I don’t like her very much, so I guess we’re even. They’re heading north, into a place called the Storm Peaks. I know they had to cut through frost troll territory to get there.
Velameestra Windrunner says: That’s the home terrain of the Hyldnir. The clan Thrud was from.
Alleria Windrunner says: Well, I guess we’ll have to see how their meeting happens. They brought an entourage of blood knights, some blood mages, and some others.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Not many men, I hope.
Alleria Windrunner says: There were a fair number.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Well. From what Thrud said, I hope they keep the men away.
Alleria Windrunner says: Hopefully they don’t all get themselves killed.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Again.
Alleria Windrunner says: Again, in some cases. Or in most of the cases, from what I understand.
Velameestra Windrunner says: I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.

Alleria nods.

Alleria Windrunner says: I hate waiting, but yes.

Alleria also informs Vel of other things they had seen, including many creatures they had not encountered before. The dealings with the native humans had also not been positive, and these humans also did not speak common. Apparently initial interactions had been fine, but the moment it spread to them that the Sin’dorei were working with the vrykul, dealings promptly turned hostile. However, most notably, the humans did not fight with weapons--they fought with claws because they would turn into hybrid bear-men, if reports were to be believed, though Alleria had not seen such personally.

Vel is somewhat exasperated at the news of “bear worgen”, though Alleria mentions that these humans didn’t seem to be ravenous monsters--they were more controlled.

Vel then also informed Alleria of some of the happenings since the last time they had really spoken at length, including the apparent infiltration of the Legion into the dealings between the draenei and kaldorei.

Alleria Windrunner says: Sounds to me like they’re a bunch of cowards.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Pitting two groups against each other rather than facing them head on? Yes. Though they’re afraid of Azeroth, from what I’m gathering.
Alleria Windrunner says: They can only use that ploy so many times.
Velameestra Windrunner says: Yes, but at the very least, I’ll eat well.

Alleria grins at that. Vel does not remain for much longer after catching up, as she opts to also try and touch base with Astalor that night with what remnants of her magic she has left.

Meanwhile, Seria is dreaming Rokhan.

Rokhan says: Seria. Is everything alright? Did something happen?
Seria says: No.
Rokhan says: I’m all ears. What’s troubling ya. Did ya find somethin’ else about Zalazane? Or ‘dis Nightmare?
Seria says: I’ve got a monster from the Shadowlands after me.
Rokhan says: Don’t talk about Bwonsamdi that way. He’s not that bad.

He squats down.

Rokhan says: But seriously, what kind of monster we talkin’ about?
Seria says: Vel called it an oracula.
Rokhan says: Tell me about it.

Seria goes into details about the interaction, and Rokhan considers for a second.

Rokhan says: That’s interestin’... the Darkspear got stories about things like that too, though I think they be different from the ones elves have. They have more mirrors than we do. So they only be seen in reflections in the water. From what I know about them… the Darkspears, they call them bloody reflections. Deadly beasts that come when you tamper with the other side in ways you ain’t supposed to be. Normally the Darkspear be better about avoiding things like that… but this be interestin’. It definitely means there be a good chance Zalazane be on the other side of the veil. That explains why we can’t find him. Now the only question be to find where he be at. But liftin’ this curse of yours won’t be easy. Ya either got to take the beast down in her den, or… try to chase her off some other way. Unfortunately that’s easier said than done. But there be ways to do it, I be sure. But this thing won’t let up on you until you win, or it does. She’ll keep comin’ until she bleeds you dry. And whatever you do, don’t look her straight in the eye--

Seria gives him a look.

Rokhan says: Ya already did that, didn’t ya?
Seria says: Not by choice.
Rokhan says: Well be careful, mon. The next time she might pluck your eyes out. It better to be safe than sorry. Your mada worked pretty hard to give you them eyes, so it be better to keep them in your head. Tho… that is an interestin’ idea. Ya said you got brought into the thing’s lair, ya?

Seria nods.

Rokhan says: There be a good chance that the lair be on the other side in one fashion or another. But that lair is a part of her. Ya kill her, and her lair might collapse. But… there might be an opportunity. Ya might be able to look on, and this time Zalazane won’t be able to hide from ya. It be risky… none of them beasties will be able to track ya if you scry on him from his side of the veil. Ya might be able to find him. But you’ll have to distract the thing for a time. Or strike a deal with it. But be careful striking deals with that.
Seria says: I know. Uther tried to do that before I hit it with moonfire.
Rokhan says: Oh. Good you’re a quick thinker. He is a tough one, but it seems like that creature feeds on more than blood and soul. If you survive that trauma, you won’t be the same. Perhaps you can build yourself up… but it sure won’t be easy. Then there’s looking for a bigger fish. Everything has a predator. Even things like that. Ya be something it afraid of, or become something it is, perhaps it’ll listen to your tune. And say a few prayers to Bwonsamdi to be safe.
Seria says: Don’t worry. I have been.
Rokhan says: Ya got anymore questions, Seria?
Seria says: Do you know anything this might be scared of?
Rokhan says: Oh… it be the best I can do to even guess… anytime you reach beyond the veil, you have the chance to attract something deadly. Even things like that. Unfortunately I’m not sure I can give you any ideas off the top of me head. I can think about it… I got loads on my plate. Don’t want you getting your eyes poked out, but I can’t make no promises. Oh. I did come to something. I reached out to Gadrin and explained the situation. It was good to talk to the old man again. But… we met, and he got an idea. If we be lookin’ for somethin’ that Zalazane be makin’, turns out ol’ Vol’jin’s special glaive be enchanted by the hexxer himself. I don’t know if it would be strong enough, but it will be better than nothin’. Unfortunately… well… ya know who be holdin’ onto that right now, and I don’t know if I can get that out of her hands. Not after everything that happened. Ya know it be bad when I almost think it would be easier to trick a death ghost to find where Zalazane be hiding instead of facing her down again. But… I guess that be a bit of a dragon of my own creation. But we come up with somethin’. We’ll come up with somethin’.

The dream ends, and Seria pulls away from it. Seria goes to dream Riff next, but he’s not sleeping. She waits, and then waits longer, but he never sleeps.
