June 30th

As the warband takes their spoils, the spectral warriors having disappeared, they make their way out of the Crimson’s former lair. Loryx and his two fellows meet with them. Loryx himself is not readable, but the two other skarvyn with him appear to be somewhat shocked.

Loryx says [draconic]: You survived. And the Crimson?
Nyxxa says [draconic]: It’s no more.
Loryx says [draconic]: You have done us a great favor.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: There is something more I’d like to speak of if you have time.

Loryx cocks his head.

Nyxxa says [draconic]: Several moons ago, while traversing the sewers, we encountered some of the forces of She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and a friend of ours managed to capture a few of them to see if he could sway the hold she had on them. That friend of ours has returned with those skarvyn he took into his care. I don’t know their current state, but I didn’t want this to be something we surprised you with.

Loryx narrows his eyes.

Loryx says [draconic]: Your… friend. He is to be trusted?
Nyxxa says [draconic]: Very much so, yes.

Loryx nods.

Loryx says [draconic]: Very well. He may come with you to the Burnt Grove. Eralaz will want to speak with him, and he will want to thank all of you.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: Of course, and if you’re able to tell Eralaz of the other skarvyn.

Loryx nods.

Nyxxa says [draconic]: Thank you.
Loryx says [draconic]: If there is aid to be given, it shall be. We shall return to the Grove. You come when ready. Bring your friend. We will speak further then.

Nyxxa nods, translating the exchange back to the group as the skarvyn turn and disappear into the sewers.

The group emerges back into the sun of the late spring/early summer, and they head off to meet up with Rehgar at Kilnar’s manor in a few hours. At this point, the manor is starting to have more orcish architecture with the repairs that have been made.

In the early evening, one of the Broken Blade orcs lets the party know that Rehgar had arrived. He was flanked with about a dozen and a half skarvyn. None of the skarvyn are chained or bound in any way, and many of them have ornaments and garb that are iconic of the Frostwolves. Some have wolf masks and furs. Were they not draconic-like people, they would have been easily mistaken as orcs.

Rehgar Earthfury says: Lok’tar, friends!
Arthak Saurfang says: Lok’tar, Earthfury. It’s good to see you again. It’s been some time.
Rehgar Earthfury says: And you! Things have been interesting. It’s good to be back here and not having to watch my back every other second.
Arthak Saurfang says: I imagine. Well. Should we get down to business then, first?
Rehgar Earthfury says: That would be smart, wouldn’t it?

Rehgar gestures to the skarvyn.

Rehgar Earthfury says: You don’t mind if they make themselves comfortable while we talk?
Arthak Saurfang says: By all means.

Rehgar looks to one of the larger orc-sized skarvyn, who is mostly grayish-black with flecks of red.

Rehgar Earthfury says: You and the rest can make yourselves comfortable. I’ll be speaking with my friends for a bit.
Large Skarvyn says: Zug zug!

The skarvyn then translates to the others, and the group breaks off to explore and examine the immediate area. Rehgar looks back to Arthak.

Rehgar Earthfury says: I reckon you have a warren or something of the sort?
Arthak Saurfang says: Something like that.

They take Rehgar to the secret chamber that Kilnar seemed to have set up to protect against scrying, and he shrugs and sits down.

Arthak Saurfang says: Before we get into the matter of the skarvyn, there’s another matter. Something more personal to the Frostwolves.

Rehgar crosses his arms and listens intently.

Arthak Saurfang says: Yesterday, we received communication from Kroll. We have some news about Go’el and the Frostwolves that went to outland.
Rehgar Earthfury says: Is that so? What did you hear?
Arthak Saurfang says: Well. The good news is Go’el and the Frostwolves with him are all fine. Physically, at least. They’re surviving. But, there were losses. You would likely know about her… but Go’el’s mate. She perished.

Rehgar closes his eyes and lowers his head.

Rehgar Earthfury says: I see. I… I take it you know of Garadar then?
Arthak Saurfang says: Um. I’m familiar with… are you speaking of the sick camp for those suffering from the Red Pox?

Rehgar nods.

Arthak Saurfang says: What about it?
Rehgar Earthfury says: This place is secure?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes.
Rehgar Earthfury says: I don’t know Kroll personally, but I know Go’el trusted him. I know he lived in Garadar before it was closed, and again after the fact. You see… though I’ve never been myself, I know after it was disbanded by the warchief, the survivors and refugees returned to their clans. The ones who recovered. But those who had grown accustomed to the family there, and who had made lives independent of the clans, they chose to disappear. Garadar still exists. Go’el’s mate was one such individual. If you seek him, I imagine he will be wherever the remnants of Garadar remain among the ancestral plains of Nagrand. At least, what's left. I never had the opportunity to meet her, but… I hope he can find peace in all of this.
Arthak Saurfang says: Me as well.
Rehgar Earthfury says: What of his spawn? Did they survive?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes, they’re alive, and unharmed as far as I’m aware. They’re just… mourning.
Rehgar Earthfury says: I see. I wish I could do something to help, but the most assistance I can render is ensure the clan is safe here.
Arthak Saurfang says: That’s why we wanted to let you know.
Rehgar Earthfury says: I’ll make sure that those that need to know do.
Arthak Saurfang says: Thank you.
Rehgar Earthfury says: The rest of you, do you still intend on returning to the broken world?
Arthak Saurfang says: As soon as we are able to, though this news has added extra haste.
Rehgar Earthfury says: I see. Do what you can for him. That’s all I can ask.
Arthak Saurfang says: I will try. That’s all I can promise.

Rehgar nods.

Rehgar Earthfury says: Onto matters we can do things for, these skarvyn. You said you liberated them from the oppression of this Crimson creature? What happens now?
Nyxxa says: We are going to talk to them this evening. We told them about you and you had other liberated skarvyn. Seems you managed to accomplish some things.
Rehgar Earthfury says: We did. I discovered some things. I don’t think Sinestra had supernatural control over them. Fear kept them in check, but once word spread she was not in this world, fear began to change. They started to open up and speak more readily of their thoughts and feelings, and I suppose become who they were. Not what Sinestra wanted them to be. I fear what would happen if Sinestra were to reappear. I fear many would relapse out of fear of defying their former mistress, but the longer they are separated, the better. In time perhaps they may choose to stand against her. I believe that she was not able to develop supernatural control yet. Not directly. Or no different than how one would control any other.
Nyxxa says: I have a question. Have any spoken about them with vitriol?
Rehgar Earthfury says: Some. Others speak of her out of fear as if invoking her name would invoke her presence.
Nyxxa says: That’s the same with the skarvyn we met, but the skarvyn in this case… well, there’s a tree in the sewers that I learned has draconic origins. From a different flight, I believe. Oh. Have… I not explained what I know of dragons yet?
Rehgar Earthfury says: No. All I know is they are large and impressive to look upon, and Sinestra was seemingly one of them.
Nyxxa says: I think I used to know more, but there are several different flights. Sinestra is seemingly from the black dragonflight, which appears to be at war with the others. This tree seems to be from the reds.
Rehgar Earthfury says: I see. Do they venerate it in a spiritual sense then?
Nyxxa says: It appears to be the case.
Rehgar Earthfury says: I suppose we find light where we must.
Arthak Saurfang says: Wasn’t there a dragon sighted when we first arrived? One red of scale.
Nyxxa says: Yes, I believe it was his tree.
Rehgar Earthfury says: Interesting!
Nyxxa says: That’s probably why Sinestra destroyed it. She seemed boastful about the fact she had killed him.
Rehgar Earthfury says: Ironic one of the last vestiges of one of her adversaries is now lending aid to her former servants. I would much like to see this place.
Nyxxa says: You’ve already been permitted. We spoke on your behalf.
Rehgar Earthfury says: You work fast. I like it! There is one other thing, something I believe I’ve discovered by speaking with Zarn and the rest. Zarn is the one I put in charge, it’s a name he chose for himself. Many have started to do so.
Nyxxa says: Is that the same big one we captured?
Rehgar Earthfury says: It was, and he was one of the first to speak out against Sinestra.
Nyxxa says: I’m happy for him then. That’s a huge difference from when we first met him.
Rehgar Earthfury says: He can be a bit… haha, spirited when keeping his brethren in line, but…

His grin fades.

Rehgar Earthfury says: There’s more. He… Zarn was fluent in orcish, you see. I didn’t have to teach him how to speak it. I spent time speaking with some of my other colleagues as we learned more about these people. I’ve come to a… concerning realization. I don’t have any hard proof, but the spirits suggest it, and I’m inclined to believe them. I have reason to believe that these people, these skarvyn, were not created from nothing. I believe they were created from prisoners, captives, of Sinestra.
Arthak Saurfang says: Hrm. Makes sense. When she first proposed her little alliance with us, most of what she wanted was captives.
Rehgar Earthfury says: It is entirely possible that with her black magic and sick experiments, she discovered a way to transform orcs and small-teeth alike into these people. I don’t know for certain, but it’s something to keep in mind.
Nyxxa says: The ones that we met came to the same conclusion. Some remember more of their old lives, as much as I was told.
Rehgar Earthfury says: I believe that’s why Zarn knows our tongue. The larger ones may have been orcs, while the smaller ones were elves and other creatures, but I don’t know for certain. But they are their own people now, and that’s something to be proud of, that they turned their tragedy into a strength. It’s admirable.
Nyxxa says: Indeed. I’ll personally see to it that Sinestra can’t hurt them anymore. She’s in Outland.
Rehgar Earthfury says: Then give her a good one for me, won’t you? Anyone that twists life to their means like this doesn’t deserve the peace of a silent laboratory. Give her hell for me.

Levia definitely glances at Halno.

Nyxxa says: I intend to do something to her alright. As much as I can do.
Rehgar Earthfury says: In the meantime, lets continue to build relationships with the people she created and abandoned. Lets go meet these other skarvyn in this grove.
Nyxxa says: They want to keep this place hidden, but I imagine that goes without saying.
Rehgar Earthfury says: Of course, I’ll follow your lead on that.

Rehgar gets Zarn to get the rest of the group together.

Nyxxa says: Zarn. Good to see you in high spirits.
Zarn says: Mm. Yes. Thank you.

Zarn looks at Azgadaan as well in acknowledgement.

Nyxxa says: Not a problem.

The group then heads to the remnants of Borel’s manor. The entire manor has been leveled, and as they pick around, two skarvyn flag the group down. Two of the skarvyn with Rehgar seem to recognize one of the Burnt Grove skarvyn, and they quickly begin to chat with each other in draconic. They appear to be speaking as if they are family.

As they approach the tree, they see Loryx and Eralaz standing there. A second leaf had sprouted next to the first. Eralaz greets them with a warm small on his reptilian face.

Eralaz says [common]: You return successfully, my friends! I knew you had triumphed, for the Burnt Grove gave me a sign.

He gestures to the second leaf with pride.

Eralaz says [common]: You have proven yourselves friends of the Burnt Grove. You have my undying gratitude, and that of all my people.

He bows, and the rest of the Burnt Grove skarvyn also bow.

Eralaz says [common]: My beloved tells me you brought a friend, and our wayward brothers and sisters, no less.

Eralaz looks to Rehgar, who steps forward.

Rehgar Earthfury says [common]: Hi. Rehgar.

He touches a hand to his chest.

Rehgar Earthfury says [common]: I tried to help your people. But they helped themselves, as have you. They are free, as are all of you.

He then looks to Zarn.

Rehgar Earthfury says: Tell the rest that all the others are free to stay, you have no obligation to stay with me, but you are welcome among the Frostwolves if you do.

Zarn and a few others translate in draconic, and a few others go and join their kin, but many others stay.

Zarn says: Elder Earthfury, we would stay with you, and act as friend to both our people and Frostwolves.

Rehgar smiles and nods.

Rehgar Earthfury says: Of course, Zarn, we’d be happy to have you.

He then looks back to the other skarvyn.

Rehgar Earthfury says [common]: Eralaz. This is Zarn. He would be a bridge between our worlds.

Eralaz nods with another kind smile.

Eralaz says [common]: Of course. We skarvyn are beholden to no masters any longer. We may choose our own path, and Zarn you and the rest are welcome amongst the Burnt Grove. As are you, Elder Earthfury.
Rehgar Earthfury says [common]: You are kind, Eralaz.

Eralaz looks to the rest.

Eralaz says [common]: You have all proven yourselves friends. Should you ever need assistance in the dark places of this city, you will have friends.

Azgadaan had been translating for Arthak.

Arthak Saurfang says: I am Arthak Saurfang, chieftain of the Broken Blade Clan. I’ve been led to believe that your people continue to suffer violent encounters with my people. I would be interested in making this 1no longer a problem.
Eralaz says [common]: It is true that most encounters that occur between the surface dwellers and ourselves… the scars of the past are slow to heal, and my kind too many lives when we were under the talons of the Mistress of Chains. We seek no further hostilities, if it is within your power, Arthak Saurfang, chieftain of the Broken Blade, it would be my honor to represent my people. But for the time being, until our safety is assured, I would ask that you keep our locations discrete.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well. I do have some matter of solution in mind. This place is sacred to you, and you would seek it to be kept secret.

Eralaz nods.

Arthak Saurfang says: So. Do you have any other camps? Elsewhere?

Eralaz nods.

Eralaz says [common]: We do. Our kind number in the hundreds. This place is important, but it is not large enough. We have a number of settlements in the sewers, and some on the surface. One being the former dwelling of the Mistress of Chains, and the laboratories beneath where we awoke.
Arthak Saurfang says: Interesting, and useful. What I propose is an official alliance between my clan and your people. Now, as part of this, our Horde will need to know your presence has it has been claimed as our territory. But if you’re willing to be upfront about those other locations, I doubt anyone would look closer for this place.

Eralaz thinks for a moment and speaks with Loryx and a few others nearby, before he nods.

Eralaz says [common]: We have decided this would be wise. We cannot mend the injuries of the past without first making our presence known. We will do this, and I will act as a representative of our people. Our public base of operations will be the manor of the Mistress of the Darkened Shadow.
Arthak Saurfang says: Very well. A clan and chieftain. I can work with that. I will do what I can to take point on any negotiations, that way there are fewer eyes looking into your business. At the very least, I will work on a cease fire based on an alliance with my clan. If there’s anything more I can get you, I’ll attempt to do so, but if you can provide the Horde with the knowledge of your sewers in exchange for supplies or protection, that will look good enough.
Nyxxa says [common]: And if it’s you in charge with the knowledge of the sewers, it makes it much easier for you to conceal this place.

Eralaz offers a small smirk.

Eralaz says [common]: I am not one to wield deception, but concealing such a location would be advantageous. Very well then, myself and the others will prepare a case to present to your leaders. As far as other things are concerned, if Zarn is to act as an intermediary with these Frostwolves, then we should send an ambassador to your clan as well.

He looks to Loryx.

Eralaz says [draconic]: Loryx, my heart, will you do this?
Loryx says [draconic]: Light of my life, I do not wish to be far from you. If the Horde betrays us… not all orcs are kind like they, all it takes is one blade--

Eralaz puts a hand on Loryx’s nose.

Eralaz says [draconic]: We must do this if we are to survive, my love. Your ears are mind, your tongue is mine, and your heart is mine. I trust you with this.

Loryx closes his eyes, sighs, and agrees.

Eralaz says [common]: My beloved Loryx will bring a number of our warriors and craftsmen. They will act as my eyes and ears. If you ever need to find us, they can facilitate.

Loryx and a number of other skarvyn step forward and bow their heads.

Arthak Saurfang says: Glad to have you. I’ll see exactly what good a position I can get you, but at the very least…

He looks to the tree.

Arthak Saurfang says: We have scenery you might appreciate.
Eralaz says [common]: I look forward to seeing it in person sometime. Thank you again, heroes of the surface. May the Burnt Grove shade you from the scorching sun, and nourish the ashes of the past.
Nyxxa says [common]: Thank you for putting your faith in us.
Eralaz says [common]: Thank you for not making me look a fool in front of my people.
Nyxxa says [common]: Or your love.

He chuckles at that.

Rehgar Earthfury says [common]: I would like to stay here for a moment. I would like to help. I was told some were afflicted by the Crimson, can you show me?

Eralaz nods and gestures to where the stone-like skarvyn were situated, and Rehgar approaches. He withdraws some dust, and spiritual light illuminates around his hands as he touches the shoulder of one. The red crystal begins to melt off the skarvyn, and the creature panics as it is freed, but immediately the other skarvyn collapse in on them and embrace them.

Rehgar Earthfury says [common]: I should be able to get more, but it’ll take take time.
Eralaz says [common]: Thank you, Elder Earthfury!
Nyxxa says [common]: Actually, Eralaz, could I speak with you in private for a moment?
Eralaz says [common]: Of course.

Azgadaan also offers some of the remnants of the Crimson as a trophy, but Eralaz refuses, as he doesn’t want to make his people uncomfortable. However, Nyxxa and Eralaz go somewhere private.

Nyxxa says [draconic]: So there were some questions I had for you, if you wouldn’t mind. But I’m looking into undoing some of the havoc that the Mistress of the Darkened Shadow caused.
Eralaz says [draconic]: I see.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: Around the same time… the person that told me to look into this manor, and the dragon that owned the manor initially… he said there was another young red dragon that went missing. We believe she was captured by Her.
Eralaz says [draconic]: I see.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: If you had spent time around the Mistress, I was wondering if you would have known anything about that.
Eralaz says [draconic]: I believe I may know of what you speak. Though our heads and spirits were low, there is much that we saw in the time that the Mistress of the Darkened Shadow enslaved us. I think I may have seen a dragon. She was with another. They were… alike to the Mistress in ways, but younger. And they were her enemies. One of them was clad in crimson scales, the other viridian, like grass. They were chained. Their blood siphoned. Their scales harvested. There were other experiments, but I do not know what they were. They would be taken away at times, unchained, brought deeper into the place, but I know not what occurred. Whatever darkness they were subjected to, I only pray the Burnt Grove could grant them solace

Nyxxa visibly grimaces.

Eralaz says [draconic]: They were taken. Other orcs, surface dwellers, of crimson skin came and gathered them. Brought them away in chains, their spirits broken. They took the guise of surface walkers as the Mistress often did. They were brought away, and that was the last we saw of them.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: So she does have them…
Eralaz says [draconic]: If they still live, yes. But I do not know anything else.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: Well, thank you for this. This is more than I had before.
Eralaz says [draconic]: I am sorry I cannot give me, but I feared, we all feared. We never spoke to them for fear of punishment.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: Now I understand completely, and you helped me more than you know. We didn’t even know where she was.
Eralaz says [draconic]: There is one more thing. Once… once when the red was taken, and only the green was chained, I walked through the chamber quickly. He tried to speak to me. He tried to get my help. He asked me to free him from his bindings so that he may rescue another, one he spoke of with love in his voice. Nori was the one he gave. I believe it was the name of the other.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: Yes. It is.
Eralaz says [draconic]: But I was… I did not help him. I’m sorry. Perhaps if I did they would not have suffered as much.

His eyes start to glass up a bit, and Nyxxa puts a hand on his shoulder.

Nyxxa says [draconic]: There wasn’t much you could do. She is incredibly powerful, and at that point, despite everything, it might have been worse. We can’t know what would have happened. But you told me this now, and I am going to where the Mistress is. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure they’re freed.
Eralaz says [draconic]: You’ve already done so much I could never hope to accomplish. I hope that… the Burnt Grove can grant you the acumen you need so that you may wield the courage that I lacked. That you may save him and perhaps this Nori as well.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: I will do everything I can, and Eralaz, you have your own courage. I’ve seen plenty of courage from you. I’ll admit myself that your former Mistress is one of the people I fear the most. She has lead me to do some stupid things out of cowardice. You are strong.
Eralaz says [draconic]: And you are kind, Mistress Nyxxa. Thank you.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: I think we are kindred spirits in a way. Similarly, I was transformed, and there’s a lot I can’t remember.
Eralaz says [draconic]: Perhaps the Burnt Grove guided you to us for that reason. I hope you can find the strength you need, and perhaps you too can find the growth it has given us as well.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: Thank you.

Nyxxa offers a hug, which Eralaz returns.

Nyxxa says [draconic]: There was another one of the skarvyn. We gave him the name Dabu. I haven’t seen him, and I was just wondering if you knew.
Eralaz says [draconic]: There was one who I heard of who had been given a name. One of the first of our kind to have done so. There was a time where many of our kind worked alongside the elves. We did so at the behest of the Mistress, so we feared them. But there were some amongst their number who were very kind to us. I believe that the skarvyn you speak of… I’ve not heard from him, nor has he been sighted. I do not believe he is in danger.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: That is good to hear. I was worried of what had become of him.
Eralaz says [draconic]: I can seek that answer. If I can learn more, I will try to tell you.
Nyxxa says [draconic]: I would appreciate that, but knowing he is not in danger and probably with people that are kind to him, that’s all I need to know.
Eralaz says [draconic]: The Burnt Grove shelters all of its children, even if they are not close.

Nyxxa smiles, and they return to the group, who heads back up to the surface.

Sadras says: Well, that went pretty well.
Arthak Saurfang says: Hrmm. It did.
Azgadaan says: Yes! Today is such a great day.

Azgadaan is still enjoying the afterglow of murdering his ooze nemesis.

Relatively Early in the Timeskip Before the Crimson

Azgadaan fades into a dreamscape targeting Nesslyn. It’s a beach, but the sand is glittering black, and it’s night with a sky reminiscent of Argus. Beyond the beach is a black manor.

The succubus is walking down the beach, but stops as she sees Azgadaan, and crosses her arms.

Nesslyn says: What’s all this about?
Azgadaan says: Sorry about the surprise. I suppose I should have messaged you. Apologies.

Nesslyn flicks her tail angrily.

Azgadaan says: I’m here to apologize. What I did to you after the invasion… I’m sorry for what I did. I should not have tried to force you to do anything. I’d like to make an excuse for myself, like I was angry and not myself, but that seems like a… poor excuse, and thank you for teaching me that important lesson.
Nesslyn says: Alright, so what do you want?
Azgadaan says: Nothing.
Nesslyn says: Haha. You expect me to believe that you invaded my dreams to give me an apology you’re too afraid to give me in person, just to apologize for something you did months ago, and you want nothing? I know how men work, Prince Azgadaan, and men only come crawling back when they need something.
Azgadaan says: I don’t require anything from you. I’m just sorry I acted so terribly towards you that day. But if it makes you feel better I can ask you to do something? I don’t know what to say, I didn’t think about what you would say in return.
Nesslyn says: That tends to be a habit of yours, Azgadaan, you don’t think. Especially about how other people respond. Maybe that’s something to work on, hm?
Azgadaan says: Indeed.

Nesslyn rolls her eyes.

Nesslyn says: Then again I suppose you of all people would be dense enough to make an apology like this without expecting anything. Very well, your apology is accepted, Prince Azgadaan, but don’t start thinking this makes our friends or something? It’s gonna take more than that. But at least I’ll stop talking bad about you. For now.
Azgadaan says: Thank you. Is there anything you would like? I can make literally everything here.

He points out to the sea and a whale drops from the sky and into the ocean. Nessly stifles a chuckle.

Nesslyn says: For now, you can stay out of my way.
Azgadaan says: What way are you walking?
Nesslyn says: Metaphorically! You’re so annoying! Look, I wasn’t expecting this, so no, I don’t have anything in mind. Should you even be here? Aren’t you and Aracyra a thing? She might get jealous if she finds out about you probing a girl’s dreams.
Azgadaan says: I… maybe? I don’t know, a lot of my friends are women. Maybe that’s why I don’t have many friends who are men.
Nesslyn says: Congratulations, Prince Azgadaan, that may be one of the only things you and I have in common.
Azgadaan says: Perhaps. I’m glad we were able to put this past us.
Nesslyn says: It’s a start I guess.
Azgadaan says: If you ever want to talk about anything in the future, just message me, and, oh, this completely slipped my mind. That day was exhausting. I think you may have said something about my mother? The day was long and difficult, honestly the longest I’ve worked in a long time once you took control.
Nesslyn says: What is it?
Azgadaan says: Did you know my mother?
Nesslyn says: And what if I did? She was a traitor. She was executed for it. You were there. I wouldn’t ask around, people might get the wrong impression. Even in a place like this.
Azgadaan says: Just wondering what you might have known. Especially seeing you were berating me on manners.
Nesslyn says: and I’ll continue to do so.
Azgadaan says: I don’t doubt it. But, if you need anything, I’ll listen.
Nesslyn says: I’ll be honest with you, Prince Azgadaan, I can’t fathom a single reason in all of existence what I could possibly ask you for help for, but I’ll keep it in mind. Maybe I’ll need to move some furniture around or something. After all, you have a bit of experience with that now, don’t you?

She winks.

Azgadaan says: I am fairly proficient with that now, yes.

Nesslyn chuckles.

Nesslyn says: Oh! I thought of something. How about you end this spell so I can get back to sleep without having to see your face?
Azgadaan says: Alright. Good night, sleep well.
Nesslyn says: You too.

She puts on a sarcastically sweet face as the spell ends.

Azgadaan also dreams Raluhi to check in on him. As soon as the spell connects, there’s a sound of surprise and alarm.

Raluhi’s tail is out straight as he looks around. He is muttering in draenic, but then sees Azgadaan. He switches to orcish.

Raluhi says [orcish]: Prince Azgadaan, it’s a pleasure to see you--
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Just call me Azgadaan. It’s good to see you’re alright!
Raluhi says [orcish]: Right. It’s good to see that you too are unharmed.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Last time I saw you you were trying to jump through a dimensional portal with someone trying to disintegrate you!
Raluhi says [orcish]: ...Yes, I suppose I was.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Extremely brave of you!
Raluhi says [orcish]: Er, uh, perhaps bravery or stupidity…
Azgadaan says [orcish]: I’m glad you could get her out.
Raluhi says [orcish]: Yes. I only wish I could do more. I… have you heard?
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Yes, but I also believe it’s a ruse. I’m going to let one Argussian year pass before I deem it true.
Raluhi says [orcish]: I wish I shared your optimism, my friend. Samaara had a similar viewpoint. I hope that the two of you are proven correct. I have lost a lot of people in my life, so… it would be for the best if I do not get my hopes up in such a way. But I hope for your sake that you are right. That both of you are right.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Well, I have a lot of hope.
Raluhi says [orcish]: An uncharacteristically large amount of hope for an eredar.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: You can blame Remnii, Samaara, and the rest for that.
Raluhi says [orcish]: It seems they have rubbed off on you a good amount. Carry that with you.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: I’m going to try my best. Oh! We’re going to go back to Draenor soon, and I was wondering if there was anything of interest you wanted me to retrieve?
Raluhi says [orcish]: Why would you go back to that place?
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Arthak sent his nomcoms, there are some Frostwolves… there are a lot of people there that we need to bring baack. Right. Have you heard what happened?
Raluhi says [orcish]: I heard tales. They reached the place where I am living now via the elves. They said that a tree of astronomical proportions is now where the portal was. They aren’t sure what it is.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Right, the tree.

He shifts the dream to show the tree, and Raluhi jumps.

Raluhi says [orcish]: Ah. That’s fascinating. I would give much to look at it, but that is impossible. Perhaps in time. As far as anything I want… it would be long gone by now. Whatever is left of my belongings on Draenor, do not worry about it. All my belongings I have already replaced.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Well, I’ll keep an eye out. If I find anything, I can show it to you.
Raluhi says [orcish]: I would not come here, personally. The last demon that came here was very adept at infiltration. I am living at a repository of magic, one that is decidedly not friendly to folk like you. Be careful even thinking about such things. But Samaara believed that she may be able to make contact with the rest of the draenei. It is her hope she can find them. Anything you find could likely help our people, so that would be useful.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Hm. Really, you’re the only draenei I can ask this. I was planning on making contact with Kaylaan and the extremely agitated Akama…

Raluhi’s jaw drops.

Raluhi says [orcish]: I would not speak with Akama. I don’t imagine that would end well. I never met Kaylaan, but I heard of him and his last encounter with Arthak… how did he speak to you last time you spoke with him?
Azgadaan says [orcish]: I didn’t really talk to him all that much. The fight happened with Azuka, that went poorly, he got imprisoned, he disappeared, and last time we saw him he took some of Arthak’s digits, but I didn’t really talk to him… he was highly emotionally charged and I didn’t want to step into that.
Raluhi says [orcish]: I would say if you’re going to reach out to one of them, I would reach Kaylaan. I can’t stop you from contacting Akama, but he is a very emotionally charged person all of the time. I would not want harm to come to you, even in a dream space like this.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Ah, thank you.
Raluhi says [orcish]: Ah, good. If you want to visit anytime… I suppose you can. I can show you some things I’m working on. Myself and a friend of mine are working on something to bring hope to some of the children. A toy store of sorts. You might find things charming.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Do you have the dream spell, Raluhi?
Raluhi says [orcish]: I do not. It’s within my purview, but when I was transferring what I remembered it was never one of the spells I knew much of. Illusion magic wasn’t something I focused on, but it’s possible for me to learn it. Though I would have some learning to do indeed.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Wonderful, it would be great if you could visit me and show me.
Raluhi says [orcish]: I will see what I can do. Maybe someday I can show you in person. Maybe.
Azgadaan says [orcish]: Yes, I hope when we meet in person it’s in much happier circumstances. Maybe when Remnii and all the draenei are back.
Raluhi says [orcish]: Yes, perhaps.

They spend some more time just chatting before Azgadaan lets the dream end, and Raluhi informs Azgadaan that he had learned the common tongue of Azeroth, which he then switches to.

Raluhi says [common]: Thank you for the care, Azgadaan. It’s not something you see amongst your kind. Hang onto that.
Azgadaan says [common]: I will. I’m not even a year old yet. Perhaps it’s that.
Raluhi says [common]: Maybe. Hold on to that kindness.
Azgadaan says [common]: I will. I like this part of myself.
Raluhi says [common]: There are many who will not.
Azgadaan says [common]: Too bad for them!
Raluhi says [common]: Just be careful.
Azgadaan says [common]: I will. Good night.
Raluhi says [common]: Well, nearly good morning at this point! But I will see you next time, farewell Azgadaan.
Azgadaan says [common]: Talk to you later.

The dreamscape fades and Azgadaan wakes up. Throughout the timeskip he also dreamed or directed people to him to ask them what some things are that they like so he could try to replicate those things.

July 1st

After the successful defeat of the Crimson and the establishment of an allyship with the skarvyn, the group awakens to a warm mid-summer day with intermittent light showers.

Arthak gets a sending through the “doomstone”.

Gul'dan says [sending]: Chieftain Saurfang. I hope the morning finds you well. It appears that Lady Shaspira has returned from her home. I thought you may wish to know.
Arthak Saurfang says [sending]: Good to know, Elder. Thank you for the information. We should probably meet sometime soon.
Gul'dan says [sending]: Of course, Arthak. My doors are always open to you.

Arthak puts out word of Shaspira’s return to the others. Aracyra, who had been invited to the mainland by Azgadaan, also found out that way.

Aracyra says: Mother’s returned?
Arthak Saurfang says: It appears so.
Aracyra says: I-I see… I should probably head back myself.
Arthak Saurfang says: She would likely to see you especially.
Aracyra says: Yeah. Thank you for throwing the celebration Azgadaan, it was fun. But I should probably return to see mother.
Azgadaan says: Do you want to go with us for the ride?
Aracyra says: I think I’ll go now.

She heads out, but Azgadaan follows after her. She is giving the impression that she wants to speak to her mother alone before anyone else arrives.

Azgadaan says: I hope you’re doing alright. If you want to talk about anything later, I’m here for you.
Aracyra says: Of course Azgadaan, I always know that. I suppose I was just expecting a bit more warning when my mother arrived. I suppose she’s quite busy and she just only returned now, but it’s fine, really. Thank you, though, I appreciate it. I’ll talk to you again later, okay?
Azgadaan says: See you then.

Azgadaan hugs her and gives her a kiss on her forehead. As she pulls away, her shadow whips around her ankles, and she vanishes into it.

Arthak goes to find Gul’dan as Azgadaan prepares transport for the group back to Quel’danas, and he finds him at the pinnacle of Stormreaver Spire.

Gul'dan says: Greetings Arthak, my friend. You wished to speak?
Arthak Saurfang says: I did. With Lady Shaspira’s return, things are going to be moving again. Our expedition to Outland will likely be coming soon, so I wished to discuss a few details.

He pulls out some of the items he was able to harvest from the Crimson.

Arthak Saurfang says: But before that, gifts from our new allies.

Gul’dan makes his way over and takes the samples that Arthak offered.

Gul'dan says: Hmmm… interesting. Very interesting. These look like they could be of some use.

He grins, holding up the coalescence gel.

Gul'dan says: This especially has many special applications in mind.
Arthak Saurfang says: I have no doubt you and the others will put them to good use.

Gul’dan uncorks one of the bottles and sniffs it.

Gul'dan says: Hm. Curious. It smells of spirits. Elven wine. I will have to speak to Runesight of this, perhaps can tell me more of its origin. Thank you, Arthak. Would you like compensation for this? You would be due it, of course.
Arthak Saurfang says: No, as I said, this was a gift on behalf of the skarvyn we’ve made contact with.
Gul'dan says: Well then. Grant them my gratitude on my behalf. I am eager to meet these skarvyn. That they have liberated themselves from Sinestra’s rule is a testament to their character.
Arthak Saurfang says: On that we are in agreement, and they know the sewers and tunnels below this city better than anyone. They may prove to be valuable allies should the city come under attack again.
Gul'dan says: And it will in time. The elves will not surrender their homeland without a fighter. They will be admirable allies if they can be trusted.
Arthak Saurfang says: In that regard, time will tell, but so far it looks promising.
Gul'dan says: Very good. Very good indeed. You’ve done well, Arthak. I had always suspected that more of these skarvyn inhabited the tunnels beneath, but finding them was low in priority. It seems they found you. Serendipitous indeed.
Arthak Saurfang says: An opportunity to be pounced upon.
Gul'dan says: Speaking of opportunities, you mentioned that you were returning to our old stomping grounds.
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. Under the circumstances, there are too many loose ends in Outland that need to be dealt with. Most personally, the members of my clan there, and the threat of Sinestra. She will attempt to return at some point.
Gul'dan says: Of course, and she and the traitors of the Dragonmaw cannot be allowed to harm our investments. Our strength cannot be divided.
Arthak Saurfang says: Exactly. A third front in this war would be too much of a disruption.
Gul'dan says: I trust if you have the opportunity to continue your… collection of trophies of wayward chieftains, you will take that opportunity on Mor’gor?
Arthak Saurfang says: Consider it part of the plan.
Gul'dan says: Excellent, but I sense there is something else?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. This is a far more sensitive matter. There is another reason I intend to return to Outland, one I have… not shared with you up until now.
Gul'dan says: Oh?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. Part of plans that were set in motion before my entry into the Council, and until Lady Shaspira’s return, there was little I could do to pursue it. Do you recall the mok’nathal who was with my clan for a short time? Gelnok?
Gul'dan says: I bore witness to him, little more than passing glances. He was pointed in his avoidance. I don’t think he liked me much. My condolences for his passing.
Arthak Saurfang says: It was a loss to the clan, but before he passed, he passed information to me. Information regarding the warchief.
Gul'dan says: What sort of information?
Arthak Saurfang says: Gelnok was kin to Orgrim Doomhammer.
Gul'dan says: I see. I can only imagine he was no fan of the warchief then.
Arthak Saurfang says: No. But. More than mere dislike. He had, with his own eyes, caught the warchief in a deception.

Gul’dan looks to Arthak curiously.

Gul'dan says: Of what type?
Arthak Saurfang says: Of the sort a smith of Blackhand’s capabilities could pull off, with the right reagents. As much as I’ve made my own weapons. That the Doomhammer in his hand is not the true one.

Gul’dan’s lips crack into a grin and he starts to laugh.

Gul'dan says: Is this true? You believe this to be so?
Arthak Saurfang says: I do.
Gul'dan says: Oh… what a delicious piece of information you have uncovered, Arthak Saurfang. Hahaha. You see… some years ago, he had approached me seeking my assistance. My help in enchanting an item. He was dodgy to say the least. I had my suspicions that he had created a forgery of the Doomhammer, but I had never cared to discover the truth. Not until you discovered it for me. So the real Doomhammer… it lies still in the shattered lands of Outland?
Arthak Saurfang says: That is what Gelnok said.
Gul'dan says: And you seek to recover it?
Arthak Saurfang says: I do.
Gul'dan says: And what will you do next, Arthak?
Arthak Saurfang says: That is where things will be difficult, but… whoever claims the real Doomhammer will have an obligation to challenge the warchief.
Gul'dan says: Quite so. That hammer has been made to create and destroy many things, and they who wield it will undoubtedly share no small part of the Horde’s future in their grasp. That is power that cannot fall into the wrong hands.
Arthak Saurfang says: Agreed. That is part of my intentions in reclaiming it. To ensure it ends up in the most advantageous of hands for the Horde.
Gul'dan says: My thoughts exactly. But let me make something clear to you, Arthak. If the Doomhammer is where this mok’nathal claims, if it is there, only you would be able to return it. Were it to return in the hands of another, that would be… unthinkable. Such a thing must have been impossible. And it would be better if the hammer never existed at all. After all, as you said, it takes a smith of a certain caliber to build something that lasts. You have that skill, Arthak. Return with the hammer, or with news that your late mentor was mistaken. I have the utmost faith that you will get to the bottom of this interesting rumor.
Arthak Saurfang says: I will not fail, Elder. Though, when I first conceived of this plan, if I’m to be honest, my thought was it to go to Dal’rend.
Gul'dan says: Then you will give it to Dal’rend once you return.
Arthak Saurfang says: Understood. Then I believe we have an understanding, Elder.
Gul'dan says: Of course, and I have no doubt that you will succeed in your task. Good luck, Arthak. The Horde is counting on you. As ever.
Arthak Saurfang says: Then I must not fail.

Arthak turns and leaves to meet up with the others. They pile into Azgadaan’s vehicle, and Azgadaan tells Arthak he can’t smoke in the vehicle, so the orc reluctantly puts the cigar back.

Levia and Sadras opt to not go in, but the others intend to meet with Shaspira. Azgadaan casts enhance ability on all of them.

As they enter the ruined Magister’s Terrace and head to Shaspira’s former office, they see Shaspira moving across the chamber, and they can hear her speaking in eredun. Her voice is curt, and clearly irritated. Something flies across the room and shatters.

Shaspira says [eredun]: This accursed tree has broken everything of value in this place.

A wrathguard holds up a hand as the group appears, and he knocks on the frame of the door.

Wrathguard says [eredun]: Lady Shaspira, you have visitors.

The eredar immediately freezes and turns, folding her hands into her long sleeves.

Shaspira says: Yes, I expected you would be coming around soon, Arthak. Please, come in, all of you.
Arthak Saurfang says: Lady Shaspira, it’s good to have you back.
Shaspira says: it is good to be back here, away from the politics and squabbling I am sometimes subjected to on my beloved homeland.

Shaspira takes a deep breath. Her former office had seen the brunt of the roots as they grew through. What little remained had been torn to pieces. There is upholstery with long slash marks through it.

Shaspira says: It seems this place will no longer suffice for my uses. This peculiar growth that has taken root in the remnants of the Sunwell has seen to that. I suppose I’ll need to find a new domicile in the meantime. I apologize for being unable to assist you these last months or to make the payments that were due. I have done what I could to acquire some of what I owed. I apologize it is not the full amount, but I will do anything I can to ensure I am not indebted to you further. Things have been difficult as of late, and I’ve been unable to liquidate my assets quickly enough in light of what has occurred, but I have acquired this much.

She extends a sack to Arthak, and inside there are immaculately cut gemstones. Ten in total. Each are worth about five thousand gold pieces.

Arthak Saurfang says: We will divvy up what we need to.
Shaspira says: Of course. How have things been in my absence. I’ve been able to ascertain the general state of the war effort. Things are going well enough it seems, even if slow going. That is good. What of the Broken Blade and your personal exploits?
Arthak Saurfang says: Progressing. We have recovered as much as we could from the aftermath of the battle of the Sunwell. We have some losses to the disease, mostly among the former Thunderlords, but we have kept going, and at least we have not been wanting for food or supplies. But, as aid to Elder Gul’dan, we have forged an alliance with the Horde and the Amani trolls.
Shaspira says: Good to hear. The more blades we have, the better we will all be. After all, I was unfortunately unable to provide the reinforcements I promised you, as I was so vigorously reminded over the last seven months. A problem I am seeking to rectify.
Arthak Saurfang says: Unfortunately, unexpected pitfalls are an inevitability of war.
Shaspira says: Yes, unfortunately. It is simply up to me to ensure this error in judgement does not become a mistake. But that I suppose will require some work on my own.
Arthak Saurfang says: If there is any way I can lend assistance, please inform me.

Shaspira stops and turns away to look at the wreckage of the room.

Shaspira says: I do believe that I will have need of your services, Arthak, Azgadaan.

Shaspira picks up the broken wreckage of an artifact and fiddles with it.

Shaspira says: I have been assigned to find a way to re-establish connection between this world and our allies in the Twisting Nether. No small feat, for you see this world has innate protections. Things that prevent portals of such magnitude from being opened. This is why the Dark Portal was such a monumentous undertaking, and why it failed before. Now it has failed again. This third attempt will undoubtedly be the last, one way or another. But for that I’m going to need to do a great deal of research into the history of this world, and plumb the corners of the world that were long forgotten. I cannot do that alone, and there will be something I will require your assistance on in the future, once I know where I’m looking and what I’m looking for. Can I count on you for that? All of you? Despite any difficulties we’ve had in the past, personally between myself and others…

She looks to Nyxxa.

Shaspira says: My ability to be selective in allies is narrowing considerably. I would be in your debt, which in spite of everything, is not something that most should take lightly.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well, for the time being, there is our expedition to Outland…
Shaspira says: Yes, we spoke briefly of that.
Arthak Saurfang says: You have my blade, Lady Shaspira, but my first priority is to my people.
Shaspira says: Of course, and you have many things you need to accomplish. I can assist you in that. While establishing a permanent connection between Azeroth and the Twisting Nether, I would be more than capable of sending you there. In exchange for your assistance once I find what I’m looking for. It’ll take time, but once you return I wager I’ll have some hints to the whereabouts of the artifact in question.
Arthak Saurfang says: I see. We were currently planning on utilizing our ethereal contacts with the Protectorate to get us there.
Shaspira says: I will leave you to deliberate if you wish, I have plenty to take care of in the meantime. Regardless, if you need me for this task, I still hope I could count on you Arthak. After all, the Dark Lord’s Scepter will not return itself, and while the Horde will be able to bring this continent to heel, there are bigger things at stake, and alone the Horde will not be able to conquer this world in entirety. Together we are strong, but alone we will both fail.
Arthak Saurfang says: I know that well. You can count on me.
Shaspira says: And I’m a woman of my word if nothing else. If you need my assistance, I will offer it. Just the same as you have.

Shaspira looks back to the room.

Shaspira says: And I will find somewhere to hole up.
Arthak Saurfang says: And we will need to establish a plan. But if I could steal a few more moments of your time, Lady Shaspira, in private?
Shaspira says: Of course.

The rest of the party walks through the door, leaving the pair of them alone.

Shaspira says: How may I help you?
Arthak Saurfang says: If it’s… not improper. How bad is it?

Shaspira chuffs, smiling cynically.

Shaspira says: Tell me, Arthak, have you ever been given one last chance to accomplish something? A commission for work, perhaps, or an assignment from a chieftain before you claimed a clan of your own?
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s never easy.
Shaspira says: It isn’t. Let me make something clear, my failure here was my last chance, and I’ve spent the last time fighting for another. The only reason I’m here is because I’m good at what I do, because I fought for what I have, and because I’ve gotten results over the last thousands of years in the material plane’s time. Since I took control of the Archival Authority. But I came frighteningly close to never speaking to you or anyone else ever again. And yet here I am. You understand, then, what occurs if I am unable to produce the results I promised. So, to put it plainly, it’s quite bad.
Arthak Saurfang says: I’m sorry to hear it.
Shaspira says: There is nothing for it, unfortunately. What is done is done. We can only look towards the future, towards our next plans, and towards correcting our errors. Because mistakes are not tolerated in the Legion.
Arthak Saurfang says: Nor in the Horde.
Shaspira says: Precisely.
Arthak Saurfang says: I have informed Elder Gul’dan of my intentions regarding the Doomhammer.
Shaspira says: I see, and what was his opinion on the matter?
Arthak Saurfang says: Hrmm… that… simply enough, either I return to Azeroth carrying the hammer, or the information I was given was wrong.
Shaspira says: I see. Wise counsel. Ultimately, if the Horde is to survive, it will need strong leadership. That leadership must come from someone who understands what must be done, and what sacrifice is. You understand this, Arthak, that is obvious.
Arthak Saurfang says: It is not something I considered taking for myself. But. Here we are.
Shaspira says: Yes indeed, here we are, and if we do not claim the strength that we need to succeed, someone else will try to, and you have no control over what they do with that strength, Arthak. No control over what happens with the strength, and when something is as important as the future of the Horde… you must be careful who controls that strength. Otherwise… you’ll be powerless as the cards fall, and trust me, I speak from first hand experience that to be powerless in the face of tragedy unfolding around you is a fate far worse than death. So claim the strength that you need, Arthak. Claim it however you need to do so, bend it to your will if you must, change the laws of existence if you must. There’s no stopping, for if you stop, you stumble, and if you stumble, well… you already know the answer to that.
Arthak Saurfang says: I do. Thank you for the counsel.
Shaspira says: Of course, any time. And truthfully it’s not a problem as far as time is concerned. After all, when you have so much to do, what’s another couple moments, yes?
Arthak Saurfang says: I am glad that you returned. Sincerely.
Shaspira says: Myself as well. I only hope that the next time I return to the homeland it’s with good news, or I may not return again. Without the Scepter of Sargeras, I cannot hope to survive my next… audit, lets call it.
Arthak Saurfang says: Well. We’ll have to see about getting it for you. But I need to start making some plans.
Shaspira says: Of course, I’ve already stolen enough of your time. Regardless, I hope you’re able to find the rest of your people, and if you need assistance, Velhari is stationed at Hellfire Citadel overseeing operations there. If you need assistance, perhaps she can aid you.
Arthak Saurfang says: It’s possible. One of the things I’m hoping to accomplish is dealing with th4e Sinestra problem. I imagine Velhari and those at the citadel will be unique suited for the task. But. Sorry. One last thing.
Shaspira says: Of course.
Arthak Saurfang says: Remnii.
Shaspira says: Yes. regrettably, I’ve been unable to be kept apprised of her location. Seems she’s been instated some sort of divination protection on her. That’s why I had Velhari assigned. Have you heard anything?
Arthak Saurfang says: Yes. She is dead.
Shaspira says: What.

Shaspira raises an eyebrow.

Arthak Saurfang says: I don’t have the full story, but… yes, as far as I’m aware, she is dead. We have made some inquiries as to where she was.
Shaspira says: What a cruel twist of fate. Amidst all of the hardships I’m now facing, it seems she has even slipped from my grasp permanently now. Of course she went and got herself killed the first moment she had the opportunity to. How delightfully absurd. Well thank you for informing me, nonetheless. I suppose at the very least I can acquire her corpse if I’m lucky. At least I can save some of my ever dwindling resources. After all, no reason to pay off bounty hunters if my quarry is already dead.
Arthak Saurfang says: Of course. You were intent on reclaiming her?
Shaspira says: I was. Do you know why?
Arthak Saurfang says: It seemed to be a personal matter so I thought it impolite to ask.
Shaspira says: It was, and it would be, but I feel I should tell you. You see, as I’m certain you discovered, Remnii’s father is the Prophet Velen, one of the greatest enemies the Legion has to face, but her mother was a woman by the name of Nuuri. She’s dead now, but a long time ago, she and I were close as kin. Practically saw her as a sister. But that all changed when she betrayed me, along with everyone. All the draenei that turned against their people. But her’s stung worse than the others. You know, I had another daughter once. A long time ago. Her parting gift was a deception. One that led to the death of Nyrissra. Perhaps I wanted revenge on Nuuri for what she did. So perhaps it’s good Remnii’s dead. I can focus on more important things. It wasn’t her fault. A small part of me felt guilty for placing blame on her for what her mother did. But thank you for lending me your ear, Arthak.
Arthak Saurfang says: Thank you for trusting me with this. I’m sorry.
Shaspira says: We all experience loss, Arthak. I suppose it’s the only curse of my kind. We never get to move past it, do we? Take the time to deliberate with your companions. I’ll make sure you know when I relocate, if I have done so by the time you have decided.
Arthak Saurfang says: I will do so.

Arthak goes to the door, and then pauses.

Arthak Saurfang says: We never move past it, I believe, because we carry it with us. But I… have learned, in recent months, um… that is not necessarily a bad thing. It’s like armor. Or it can be a weapon. Or it can be sustenance. To use as we see fit. At least that’s what I thought, and it’s helped me some. Until next time, Lady Shaspira.

He steps out the door, and Shaspira smirks silently after him.

Meanwhile, Azgadaan had sent Aracyra to check on her.

Azgadaan says: Are you doing alright, I just had a short meeting with your mother, and want to see if you needed anything?
Aracyra says: Yes, I’m fine. We only spoke for a moment. She did seem to be a bit distraught. But I’m okay. Thank you for asking.

Arthak then returns to the group to deliberate on what route they should take to Outland. After they talk about it, they return to Shaspira to accept her deal.

Shaspira says: In that case, I can count on your assistance with matters once they are at hand, yes?

Arthak nods.

Azgadaan says: Sounds like a plan.
Nyxxa says: Hopefully it’ll take me to places more familiar to me.
Shaspira says: It may. I’m glad to hear you are willing because your unique experiences in this world will come in handy.
Nyxxa says: I’ll do what I can. Prince Azgadaan has been helpful in recovering some of the things I’ve lost.
Shaspira says: Good news.
Nyxxa says: Hopefully by the time this happens I’ll be in a better state.
Shaspira says: Excellent. Send for me when you require my services. Is there a particular location you had in mind?
Azgadaan says: Do you have any maps of the planet now that it’s been shattered?
Shaspira says: Unfortunately not. Your best bet would be to check at Hellfire Citadel. I can simply send you to locations I am familiar with.

They opt to go directly to the clan, and they assure Shaspira they will inform her when they are ready to go. Azgadaan, Levia, and Nyxxa then go to meet up with Viridius.

Viridius claps his hands together as they approach.

Viridius says: Ah, my friends! It’s good to see you again! Do you have need of the translocation device?
Azgadaan says: We would like to discuss the potential of putting forth an offer for that gate scroll.
Viridius says: Ah! So you are interested. Very good. Do you have an offer you would like to send forward, or do you want to meet with him?
Azgadaan says: We could meet with him.
Viridius says: I will send a message to him, and hopefully he will get back to me.

Viridius turns to one of his devices and starts to type something into it.

Viridius says: There it is. He should give a reply soon and then we can--

At that moment, the translocation device behind him starts to activate, and the coloration turns a silken white with spiral-like patterns.

Viridius says: Oh. I take it he is more than willing to negotiate further.
Nyxxa says: That was fast.
Viridius says: I believe he wishes for you to enter. It should take you to a sanctum of some kind. Do not worry, this is almost certainly not a trap. He is a legitimate businessman. So you have no fear, and I wager he will be able to send you back here just as easily as he… opened this portal in my translocation device.

Viridius seems surprised.

Nyxxa says: Well, if he has a scroll of gate, it probably means he has advanced magic… I don’t have a problem with this!

Nyxxa goes to walk through the portal.

Levia Blackflight says: I’m not going to lie, the fact he said this isn’t going to be a trap makes me think this is going to be a trap, but alright if you think this is a good idea…
Nyxxa says: If it was a trap he would make it seem like it wasn’t a trap. You know, it’s best not to overthink it, lets just go.

The trio steps through the gate, and it feels unlike anything they had ever experienced. They almost felt pulled into a singularity and thrust through the cosmos in a way they could not really fathom. And then it was over.

The group appears through another gate similar to the one they had entered, but it appears to be of a different sort of make. Rather than a thin line, it’s more of a thick, creamy yellow with darker burnished bronze, and it appears to be nicer than Viridius’s. They are in a beautiful chamber, and all around them they see plush comforters, what appear to be mounds of pillows, a low table with an eight hosed hookah, and beautiful abstract art pieces of things they had never seen before.

As they take the space in, they hear a voice call their attention to one of the walls where there is a circular door chamber that opens. The voice almost seems to project.

Voice says: My friends you have finally arrived! I was wondering how long it would be until you visited!
Nyxxa says: You were… expecting us?

The creature that had emerged to greet them had no face. In place of a face there was some sort of plate that burns with a strange-looking, smoky fire that keeps it levitating. The plate turned towards Nyxxa and seems to quiver as the creature speaks.

Its long, claw-like hands fold in front of it.

Mysterious Trader says: You, my friends, are the ones that purchased the portable hole from me! Is that correct?
Azgadaan says: Indeed.
Mysterious Trader says: Ahaha! I had you pegged from the first time I received your message from the rest of the Consortium. Someone looking for something like that would certainly be someone interested in my wares. Please, my friends, make yourselves comfortable!

He gestures to the lavish pillows.

Mysterious Trader says: Though my people do not require such… lavish treatments and refreshments, I am more than prepared to retrieve anything you wish. Please, food, drink, anything, I’d be more than happy to oblige!

Nyxxa looks floored. Azgadaan had heard of a race of beings in the past who, like ethereals, are career traders. He had never seen anything about them, but he had heard them mentioned purely in his studies back on Argus as they do deals with any number of individuals. He had thought they were talking about ethereals, but now he has realized that some of those stories may have been about these creatures as well.

Mysterious Trader says: Was there any refreshments I could get for anyone?

Levia furrows her brow.

Levia Blackflight says: Can I get… some cigarettes?
Mysterious Trader says: Of course, my friend, I would be happy to! In the meantime, you are more than welcome to partake of the other recreational drug use I have prepared for you!

Levia nods.

Levia Blackflight says: Nice!
Mysterious Trader says: And what of the rest of you, my fantastic Lord Eredar and Miss Satyr?
Nyxxa says: Um. Um, just some water please?
Mysterious Trader says: Of course, my friend! That I can do right now!

He walks to a small cabinet with a rotating curio inside.

Mysterious Trader says: Ah, here we are!

He procures a small cylindrical device and says a command word, and a stream of crystalline water begins to flow into a glass on a nearby table. He picks it up and daintily hands it to Nyxxa.

Mysterious Trader says: Retrieved from some of the purest waters from across the lands!
Nyxxa says: Ah. Thank you.

She takes a sip.

Mysterious Trader says: I can only hope it up to your standards!

The water was in fact some of the purest water that Nyxxa had experienced in her entire life. It tasted like sunshine--no matter whether or not that made sense, and it was perfectly cooled. It was incredibly refreshing.

Nyxxa says: Where is this from?
Mysterious Trader says: This was a simple trick created from some of the most fresh spring water from a distant world.
Nyxxa says: Huh.
Mysterious Trader says: A realm far from here.
Azgadaan says: I could try some fruit wine if you have any?
Mysterious Trader says: Of course! Allow me.

He turns the curio once more and thus time pulls out what appears to be a martini shaker. He cranks it around a few times, then shakes it, and he pours it into a glass which he hands to Azgadaan.

Mysterious Trader says: Here you are, my friend! Fermented with some of the most pure essence that can be drawn from across the realms! I believe someone of your exquisite taste palette would most enjoy this!

He is incredibly emotive with his hands, and he’s relatively tall--standing a bit taller than Levia. It’s also clear that he is trying to impress the trio.

Mysterious Trader says: Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Bo’lin, a representative of the Bo Cartel. It is an honor to have the three of you here!
Azgadaan says: The Bo Cartel… I’m sorry if this might sound rude but are you a… broker? If what I’m remembering from my studies?
Bo'lin says: That is correct my friend! You stagger me with your presence and your knowledge, my Lord Azgadaan!
Azgadaan says: You can just call me Azgadaan.
Bo'lin says: As you wish, Azgadaan! It will be my honor to do so!
Azgadaan says: It’s a pleasure to meet you, Bo’lin.
Bo'lin says: And you! I must admit I am not as familiar as the two of you lovely ladies, if you would introduce yourselves as we may speak as equals!
Nyxxa says: I’m Nyxxa.
Levia Blackflight says: Levia. Nice to meet you.
Bo'lin says: Ah, Levia, Nyxxa, my friends, it is wonderful to meet you! That said, however, I do know that you obviously came here for reasons other than to simply enjoy hospitality as you wish to speak of making a deal! You should know the Bo Cartel offers only the finest, and we offer the utmost guarantee that anything you purchase from us will be made of the utmost quality. I would offer you refunds, but there is no need, as anything we were to sell would be of the premier quality, thus all sales are final. But, that aside, I have been led to believe you wish to partake in a scroll of interplanar travel. One of the gate spell. Is this correct?
Azgadaan says: That is.
Bo'lin says: Very well! I would ask, the cartel accepts currency from any world, but what would you be paying on this particular day?
Azgadaan says: Mostly precious stones and some gold and perhaps some rezzi.
Bo'lin says: Ah, gold pieces, I see! A valuable currency, and one that is rarely found in the circles I work in. That would be most appreciated! It is not often that we are able to partake in mortal currencies. It would be my honor to make such a trade.
Azgadaan says: We can only offer you so much currently, but the price you had set… 27,500 gold pieces. I would like to perhaps barter, if you would.
Bo'lin says: Hm. I see, my friend! It seems that you see yourself a bit of a barterer yourself. Good show, I am more than willing to speak in such a direction. What is your offer, Azgadaan?
Azgadaan says: We can start off at 20,000.
Bo'lin says: Hmm…

He taps the side of his face plate.

Bo'lin says: An interesting offer, my friend.

At that moment, another one of the creatures--another broker--appears.

Bo'lin says: Ah! It seems that your cigarettes have arrived!

The new arrival hands a packet of cigarettes to Levia.

Amicable Broker says: It is my privilege to serve.

This one has a more feminine voice, and she nods before excusing herself once more.

Bo'lin says: Right, where were we?

Levia lights up one of the cigarettes as Azgadaan negotiates.

Levia Blackflight says: Shit, these are good.
Bo'lin says: 20,000 is a tad lesser than what I would be looking to get for this, but you do drive a fair bargain. I will say that the price we set it at was higher than average. There is a great demand for such a thing, you see, and I believe in the future I could get such a high price. But, I have a counter offer for you. 20,000 gold pieces or the equivalent therein is a fair starting offer. I would increase that to 25,000, or perhaps, if you prefer, we may barter in other vessels. Perhaps even, if you are so inclined, favors. You see there are many things that must be accomplished, and the Bo Cartel is always looking to acquire the services of intrepid young individuals, especially the honored denizens of the Twisting Nether, to accomplish such things.
Azgadaan says: Hm. A favor does sound like it would be workable just as long as we reserve the right to not accomplish a favor and instead wait for another one. Just in case the favor conflicts.
Bo'lin says: Of course, my friend! We would never dream of asking you to do something that would conflict with your moral codes, of course.
Nyxxa says: And could we do a mix between the two?
Bo'lin says: Of course! Of course! The services to pay off 25,000 gold pieces worth of debt would be quite significant, after all. I would never wish to burden you with such exceptional tasks, and no doubt, intrepid individuals like yourselves have plenty of things to take care of.

Azgadaan offers 20,000 gold pieces, and a favor worth 5,000 gold. Bo’lin thinks for a moment, tapping his face plate.

Bo'lin says: You drive a hard bargain, but I believe that is workable. 20,000 gold pieces and the promise of work in the future, with the caveat that if it goes against your moral codes, you can refuse. If you could instead pay the sum in gold, as long as you can compensate the fee for extending the payment, you could do that as well. But ultimately, once the favor is completed, the transaction would be complete.

Nyxxa and Azgadaan discuss for a moment, meanwhile Bo’lin writes something on a scroll he withdraws. He then hands the scroll to Azgadaan. It’s written in a language he’s never seen before, but as he watches, the lines move and transform themselves into a language he is most comfortable reading, namely Eredun.

Azgadaan looks at it and examines it for invisible writing as well as any loopholes in the terms. It seems fairly rock solid, and there is nothing out of the ordinary. Levia also looks at it.

Levia Blackflight says: I’m not an expert at contracts, but it looks pretty good… wait. No, no, it looks pretty good. Sorry, not great at reading eredun.
Nyxxa says: Levia, I’d ask if you’d be comfortable with this as well?
Levia Blackflight says: Well, if I didn’t, you’d probably still do it, and if you’re doing something there’s a pretty good chance I’ll get drug into it too anyway, so sure.
Nyxxa says: That’s fair.
Levia Blackflight says: This guy is a bit weird, but he doesn’t seem to be lying.
Nyxxa says: I guess I’m a bit confused because… I’ve never dealt with someone like this that wasn’t a demon, before.

There’s a quiet, chuckling humming sound coming from the broker at that.

Nyxxa says: Though I don’t think we’d have to worry about the things we’d have to worry about if we were dealing with a demon.
Bo'lin says: Of course not! As a representative of the Bo Cartel, I would never dream of dishonoring the letter of the word.

Azgadaan nods, and signs the contract. Levia and Nyxxa also do so, and their signatures change into the same language Bo’lin had written in as they roll the scroll back up and hand it back to the broker.

Bo'lin says: Wonderful! It was an honor to take this transaction, and may it not be the last one that we partake in! When something that suits your particular skill sets comes up, I’ll be certain to let you know so you may fulfill your end of the bargain. But in the meantime!

He withdraws another scroll from his sleeve and holds it out.

Bo'lin says: This belongs to you!

Azgadaan takes the scroll and hands over 5,000gp and three gems worth 5,000gp each.

Azgadaan says: By the way, where are we? This doesn’t feel like any plane I’ve been on.
Bo'lin says: This? This is my personal sanctum, of course. Within the Bo Cartel.
Azgadaan says: You have your own plane of existence?

Bo’lin chuckles.

Bo'lin says: My people have their own place, as yours do as well. This is my little section of paradise, and please do stay as long as you wish! Enjoy the comforts of this place for as long as you desire. I regrettably have other things to attend to, so I must depart, but feel free to relax. I’ll send one of my stewards to assist you.
Azgadaan says: Oh, if you just have one more moment.

Azgadaan pulls out the orb of inner chaos that Aracyra had given him.

Azgadaan says: Do you know anything about something like this?

Bo’lin hums in curiosity.

Bo'lin says: I do not know anything first hand, but I could take a look at it if you want?
Azgadaan says: If you’re just talking about an identify, I already did that myself.
Bo'lin says: I see. And what have you discerned?
Azgadaan says: That it makes your spells more powerful.
Bo'lin says: I see. That sounds quite beneficial! It appears to be of demonic origin. So… I could tell you that much without taking a closer look.
Azgadaan says: It was just a shot in the dark, but thank you.
Bo'lin says: Of course, my friend.
Azgadaan says: And how do we get back?
Bo'lin says: Oh, simply take the portal whenever you are ready! But please, stay as long as you wish.
Nyxxa says: Although I appreciate the hospitality, we need to get ready for an expedition of sorts.
Bo'lin says: Of course, of course, that explains why you would need such a scroll. But do keep in mind that time flows differently in such a place. You can take as much time as you need.
Azgadaan says: Do you have anyone here that sells mundane goods?
Bo'lin says: We can sell any number of things if you require it.

Azgadaan offers a list of items he was looking for, and Bo’lin copies it all down.

Bo'lin says: I will pass this onto one of my people, who will acquire as much as this as possible.

Bo’lin nods and leaves after thanking them again. After about an hour, another broker returns with all the items they could find. Some of them are a bit strange, as if they were not made on Azeroth, but everything is of very nice make.

By the time they prepare to leave, they feel very refreshed. When they step back through the portal, Viridius looks at them in surprise.

Viridius says: Are you back already?
Azgadaan says: Yes.
Nyxxa says: He wasn’t kidding then…
Viridius says: You were only gone for five minutes.
Azgadaan says: Ha!
Nyxxa says: He did say that time flowed differently over there.
Viridius says: A mysterious one, that Bo’lin. So, did things go well? Were you able to make your trade?
Azgadaan says: Yes, things went wonderfully.
Viridius says: Good, I’m glad he was of service, and I’m glad I could be of service.
Azgadaan says: Did that portal drain your resources any?
Viridius says: A small amount, but whenever I have spoken with him in the past, he is good about compensating, so you will not have to worry about that.

Nyxxa offers 100gp to Viridius for his help.

Viridius says: There is no need for such kindness, I do this out of a pre-existing agreement I have with the other trade princes, so you don’t need to worry.
Nyxxa says: But it’s important, and money is how I know how to thank you. This will be good for us, and I look forward to working with you more.
Viridius says: Well I appreciate it. It would warm my heart if I still had one.
Nyxxa says: Did… you used to have one?
Viridius says: Yes, many many years ago, my people used to be flesh and blood like yourselves, but that changed a very long time ago. Don’t worry, you’re almost certain to learn more of that history if you are to seek out Commander Ameer and the others.
Nyxxa says: Oh, news on that.

She explains that they found a different route to Outland, but they will still be trying to help with their operation when they get there.

Viridius says: Of course, they would be more than happy to see your faces if you do so. I’ll send word to keep an eye out for you.
Nyxxa says: And something I would ask…

Nyxxa asks that, if they start in Hellfire and head towards Hellfire Citadel, if they would find the netherstorm, but Viridius is unfortunately unsure as he is not super aware of the geography of the shattered world.

Viridius says: One thing that might help!

He withdraws a small disc the size of a small coin.

Viridius says: This is a tracking beacon that is honed to a similar device Ameer has. I have plenty, don’t worry. Hold on to this, and you should be able to contact him with magic even if you don’t have his precise location.

Azgadaan thanks him and they set off to reconvene with their group.
